Will Tariffs Spark an Ammunition Panic Buy? Probably. Here’s

just got this notice from Fast Ammo - tbh I'll just buy other brands anyway so not sure why the sky is falling.

Important Update​

American ammunition buyers will face significantly higher prices as new tariffs on imported ammunition take effect. These tariffs will impact a wide range of popular foreign ammunition brands such as Bosnia and Herzegovina's Igman ammunition at 36%, followed by European Union manufacturers at 20% (including PPU, Belom, Rio, ATS, Ruag, and STV/Patriot Sports).

When It Takes Effect​

These new tariffs went into effect April 5th 2025 and will effect any ammunition landing in the US going forward. We expect a significant price increase in the coming days and weeks. Now is the time to stock up before prices rise.
 
The Obama Ammo Panic taught me a lesson that I will never, ever, ever forget. We got caught a really short and in the middle of it while I was standing in line at Walmart to get a box of ammunition I promised myself that if things ever eased up I would never get caught short like that again.

We started buying online after the panic subsided. I sat down and did the math once and we were paying right around $12.00 a box for Blazer 9mm when Walmart was selling it for $16.00.

We have a designated amount of money that we set aside for ammunition from every paycheck and when we find a good sale we buy as much as we can reasonably afford.

We have quite a bit stocked up and DW just bought more yesterday.

I was actually looking for something in the ammunition closet yesterday and I found a case of Winchester White Box that I don't even remember buying. I thought all over training ammunition was Blazer Brass.
 
What little I may need I'll get locally since I'll not do business with out-of-area vendors, who I've done business with for years, that put pre-emptive surcharges on existing stock.
 
I treat it like I treat hurricane season...every year it is upon us, we may or may not have a storm make landfall (even close-by). But we always plan for the worst, hope for the best.

It's just a little more preparation on top of what we already do, so it's more or less automatic for us.
