Well I did win a XD-40 full size on GB. I pretty much pulled the plug on it to help the individual seller (not a LGS) because of the magazine issue. I was tempted to try to tell him I could get it and my LGS would modify it to a 15 round magazine. I had it done to my XDm elite (in accordance to Illinois state law). I don’t blame the gentleman for been worried about not what to do. Next time I will try to be a better communicator.
 
My XDM-Elite 3.8" 10mm hold 16, i carry my 11 round CCW and the extension mag full 16.
I'm in Illinois as well. If that one round makes me a terrorist and that much more dangerous I'm ready to fall on that sword.

I'm not really a fan of private sales. I been ripped off a few times. I had 1 guy sell me an AR and the trigger wouldn't reset unless you pushed on the side of it. Not something you can really tell till u get it to a range.

I have a list of firearms over 15. My HCP had 4-17 rounders, my M&P9 has a 17 rounder, both XDm’s have 19 and 20 rounder’s, my XDm 10MM has a couple 16 rounder’s. Trying to tell an outsider of Illinois that my LGS puts blocks into my magazines doesn’t help because they don’t know.

Depends on who I’m buying it from. I have to know the person enough to have that trust. I did have a learning experience or refresher on this one.
 
i guess i'm not reading this correctly or the understanding of the 1st post?

you do live in IL?
state limits on external mags to 10 rounds?
you live in IL and have the local lgs change from 15 to 10, but you use 15 round mags?


if it already has 15 round mags that you use then no need changing them or if 10 round limits per state then get 10 round full size mags that have the restriction built into them. OR just have them/him ship it w/o the mags

I’m outside of Chicago where the limit is 15 rounds. The private seller on gun broker was all up in arms because there where 3-16 round magazines. I was going to tell him to send it and my LGS would make a correction. Personally I was having 2nd thoughts about the seller and opted out using the magazine issue.

Must have been an XD-“m”. Your op said xd-40 full size. The XD-40 uses 12 rd mags hence even more confusion on my part.🤷‍♂️
