XD-M Elite 10mm, a few questions

TenMan

Alpha
I'm seriously considering an XD-M Elite 10mm for my next purchase but before I jump on one I have a few questions. I have read several reviews on the gun but all seem to have used what I consider to be light loads for a 10. The stuff I use is in the 620-650 ft. lb. range. All three of my 1911 based 10s have needed a bit of tuning to handle these loads comfortably. My first question is will the XD hold up under these loads as-is or will it need a heaver recoil spring setup? I have read a few articles saying it could go either way so I'd like the real info from the folks here who own one. If a replacement is needed who makes good springs and or guide rods for this gun?

Second, and this question applies to my XD mod 3 as well, who makes a good replacement trigger for these guns? I'm not looking to reduce pull weight so much as reducing the trigger creep.

Finally, do sights for other XDs fit the XD-M Elite? I'd like a good set of night sights if I wind up buying the gun.

Any info will be most appreciated!

Honestly I have no problems with my XDm precision (5.25” barrel) on what I shoot. Honestly from someone that has the M&P M2.0 10MM version, I wish I knew about the XDm elite version before buying the M&P M2.0 version.

As for springs I’m not sure for replacement yet. Honestly I know there’s a few different places that might sell them.

Springfield Armory does sell night sights and if you are going to throw on an optic then get the plate for it while you’re at it. Free shipping over 50 dollars. To me I like the SA store.

Do or did you have an issue or any issues with the m/p 2.0? I have 1 when released that runs w/o any issue(s) and bought 2 more in yhe last year and all 3 have been issue free........no spring changes were needed fir hit rounds, I did add a tungsten guiderod though.

Yes they will handle hot loads. In my hunting XDm, I am loading to almost nuclear loads and it has no issue. I am running a 26# recoil spring from Wolffe.

Powder River Precision is your friend for a trigger. My hunting XDm 10mm has an extreme trigger in it and my Elite has a drop in trigger. My mod 3 will be getting a drop in as well very soon.

Not sure on the sights. Sorry!

Thanks everyone. I'll likely pick up an XD-M Elite sometime this week. MY LGS has one in stock for $579. Seems like a bargain for that much gun.

Also, I did a little digging and found that Wolf offers a calibration pack and guide rods. Are these the correct ones for the XD-M Elite? If so I think it might be worth picking those up unless there's a problem with them.

Thanks again folks. Most appreciated.

The pack looks ok to me, just remember a heavier recoil spring may hinder the guns realizability somewhat, and especially on a 1911, it will help to batter the slide somewhat during lockup, just a thing to ponder,

Thanks much folks!

On my 1911 10mms I usually try a few different spring weights. What I look for is how the gun " feels" during recoil and ejection pattern consistency. I also usually fit a flat FPS which I round off slightly at the bottom. The flatter FPS allows me to run a lighter recoil spring weight than it would without it. On my Ronin 10 the new FPS also cured a bit of extractor clocking the gun had from the factory. It's a process but worth the effort.
