Cowboy Mounted Shooting is a thing .

Just like Mounted Archery , there is a much much shorter learning curve to teach an advanced Rider how to shoot ( gun or bow) , that teach a Shooter to ride at that level . ( Not to mention , train the horse to be cool with guns firing next to its head .

It's not done in modern era competion , but historically correct from Civil War , was Revolver in each hand , while controlling the horse with knee pressure , and shifting your weight .
