Never said they don't fit. I simply do not like the feel of them.

I love my AMT Hardballer 1911 style
45 ACP. But I also love my Glock 30 .45 ACP. Also very fond of my S&W Shield .45 ACP. The one thing the article did not mention is the 13 round magazine from the Glock 21 will fit the Glock 30. There is a sleeve that fits over the portion which sticks out of the Glock magazine well making one longer grip. You can carry the gun concealed with either the 10 round G30 mag or the 13 round G21.

I know this is going to make some upset at me, but I thought it was a good article, oh by the way, I own both 1911’s and Glocks……

I’ll admit I’m much more comfortable shooting my 1911 45 RO simply because it just shoots smooth and effortless, mainly very little felt recoil and I’m not that good yet with my Glock Gen5 G22 in 40 because frankly I’ve not put enough rounds through it. I do know I’ll get there with practice.

With the aquisition of my XDM 3.8 10mm compact all my Glocks have either been repurposed into MCK PCC's or are for sale.

The only exception is a Glock-derivative LWD long-slide 10mm which has a much better-fitting frame, and barrel that will take lead bullets vs. the factory barrel.

I don't think anything on the market is going to dethrone a 1911 for me. I really want to give a P220 a go when I have the spare cash again but I don't hold out much hope for it's success. I prefer HKs over almost any other pistol but even the HK45 and the USP fell short of the 1911 and it's entirely due to the trigger. That short, amazingly crisp 1911 trigger is something special in a pistol. I've given Glock a go and they simply feel terrible to me. The only thing I've tried that I'd take a Glock over is a Hi-Point. The feel of them does not work for me.

Wow! The author was a genuine Glock fan boy!

My first Glock was a 30. I still have it. It fits my hand and it hits what I point at. I really like the gun but it was/is too hard to conceal except in the winter. I then added a Glock 36 which was easier to conceal but didn't balance for me like the 30 did/does. I carried the 36 until Springfield came out with the XDs which became my main carry gun. The 36 went to a friend who had been admiring it.

All that said, in the years I encountered serious social situations I usually carried a Colt Commander LW and loved it except for it being really hard to conceal and being pretty heavy for 24/7, 7 day a week carry. If I were going to carry open, a LW 1911 would be my first choice.

I seriously thought about SA's range officer compact LW but I waited too long. :(

I have a Boberg (Bond Arms Bullpup) I really love and a Hellcat I also like except for the caliber.

Good advertising.
Had a full line of Glocks, now I have none.
I have short thick fingers and a Glock simply does not fit my hand.
The 1911 is just fine for me.

And the quote "if you really dig that 1911 aesthetic, keep with it." falls way short; There is a books worth of (superior) differences/comparisons between the two other than "appearance". To each his own. Not trashing the Glock, just say'in I'm 1911 and staying there. Until something better comes along and that won't be in my lifetime.

I find the article’s headline to be a bit skewed. It assumes that anyone wanting a .45 acp handgun is automatically likely to choose the 1911. In my experience, there are buyers who want a 1911 and buyers who want a .45 acp handgun. These are not always the same people.

I know plenty of 1911 enthusiasts who have 1911’s chambered in 9mm, 10mm, and even .38 Super. I also know guys who carry .45 acp Sigs and Springfields that are not 1911’s. Glock makes fine guns, but I don’t really consider them to be “Alternatives to the 1911”. I think of them as two entirely different guns.

Is about my thoughts as well on the article. Guessing the author only has experience in a few brands and types of HG's?
Agreeable or not, there's almost always alternatives and variations to something? For example, know of someone who has an M&P 45ACP HG. They have no desire for a 1911 or a Glock. Can also easily see how someone who has a desire for 1911's also has them in other various calibers besides 45ACP too. And, some people known only use 45ACP chambered HG's as well? I try not to get hung up on any one caliber, type or style HG because I enjoy the variety. But, that's me?

Mr. Bob, why do you end so many sentences that do not ask a question with a question mark?
