Recently purchased this pistol. Shot 50 rounds for a light break-in. A week later went back to the range to zero Trijicon SRO, 5moa red dot. The red dot mounting system is really great, had it mounted in a few minutes. Fired about a hundred more rounds. Did not have any malfunctions and with the red dot accuracy is not a problem. Have to admit I'm not to crazy about the trigger, measured avg 6 pounds and spongy. I'm used to Apex Tactical trigger kits on two S&W m&p's. Both are in the 2-1/2 pound range & break clean with a great resets.
 
You're probably right, need to fire more rounds to see if the rigger gets better. I'm a pretty big 1911 fan, love the triggers and I'm pretty sure no striker fired gun can come close. Like I said the S&W's I have with Apex Tactical trigger kits are very good. I contacted Apex to see if they have any plans to offer kits for the Echelon. The reply was what I expected, the Echelon is new, but if there is enough demand they may look into it. We'll see, thanks for your reply. Roger...In Texas
 
Thanks for your reply. I really got lucky. Went to my local dealer, ordered the Echelon and thought I'd have a long wait. To my surprise my dealer called to tell me my pistol had arrived the next day. Probably like you, I and others have ordered in demand guns that take weeks or even months to come in. Even though I wasn't real crazy about the trigger it is well made, accurate & reliable. I think Springfield is going to have a hard time dealing with all the orders for the Echelon.

Honestly, even when you get a trigger on a striker fired gun that comes close to the feel of a 1911, you know it’s not the same. It’s a futile exercise to try and attain that parity.
 
You're right about looking for parity. I shouldn't be so hard on striker fired guns, they're here to stay and I've had good luck with the four I own. I'm an old guy (76) been shooting 1911's since joining the Army in 1964. Carried one for 12 years as a peace officer and regularly used one in competitions for old school bulls-eye & tactical matches. I hate to admit it but the 45ACP recoil is giving my arthritis fits. I love to shoot, will continue as long as I can. Thanks for your reply...Roger, in Texas

The striker on my Rival beats any 1911 I ever pulled, including my Ronin (which is very average IMO). Best trigger on a pistol (ok a revolver) is a .44mag S&W my co-worker had done by Smith's performance center...single-action it was VERY light...

I picked up an FN545 this summer and it’s a real soft shooter and gives you 15 or 18 rds of capacity. And it has a pretty nice trigger to boot.

I have 3 1911's, old S&WPD 45acp commander, Springfield Emissary 45acp Government & Dan Wesson Vigil 45acp commander. All three have custom trigger jobs. The best all around pistol I've owned was a Sig 220 Combat45acp. Sent the pistol to the Sig Armorer for trigger work. Double action right at 7 lb's, single action 2-1/4 lb's. I traded it for an AR-15, wish I still had it.

Nice looking pistol. Before I purchased the Echelon I thought about a trying FN Gun. Unfortunately I don't know anyone that has experience with one. Although I have more guns than I can shoot I still might give FN a try. Thanks for the pic & info.

Dry fire it some, and the trigger will smooth out as the pieces rub. Apex Tactical is working on some aftermarket trigger stuff if the dry fire does not help.

As I said earlier I called Apex Tactical to see if they had plans for a trigger kit for the Echelon. The rep told me they had no plans to make trigger kits for this pistol. However, he did say if demand was there they might do so. I think I'm spoiled on 1911 triggers and need to quit comparing them to striker fired pistols. Thanks..Roger in Texas

I'm sure it's coming... I do like their extended mag release, although $65, that's 10% of the gnu price for a little button and a spring, even SIG can't command these prices! Just curious, they have a guide rod for the Echelon for $40, what's wrong or different with the OEM one? It's not like it's a 1911 guide rod... Sorry, not familiar with the details of the Echelon, just curious...
 
It was either yesterday or the day before I spoke to a tech rep at Apex Tactical. Was told they had no plans for a trigger kit for the Echelon. Did add if there were sufficient demand they would consider adding it to their lineup.
