Hi guys,
I did not file an AAR last week because I SUCKED! I wanted to be able to report something better. Last week I went to the range to compare the XD9 with the XDM Elite Precision, along with the Garrison 1911 .45 against the XD45 Mod2 Tactical.
My plan was to shoot a few warm-up magazines with each pistol, then have a face-off with a final magazine from each. I warmed up with the XD9 first.
Then I warmed up with the XDM Elite Precision.
Then I used Splatterburst targets for the last magazine out of each 9mm pistol. Here's my EDC XD9.
And here is the last magazine out of the XDM Elite Precision.
Today it seems that I'm shooting my EDC more accurately even though I'm giving up 1.25" in barrel length. I guess that would make sense. Out of all my pistols it's the XD9 I've shot and trained with the most, plus I love the sights on it. I guess that means I need more practice with the XDM. Don't worry. I'll get it.
I did the same thing that day with my two .45 pistols, the Garrison 1911 and the 'new-to-me' XD45 Mod2 Tactical. Warming up with the Garrison.
And warming up with the XD45.
I saved the last ten shots from each pistol for a shoot-off. Here's the last magazine from the Garrison.
Here's the last ten shots from the XD45.
For today I guess it's the same story. I've shot the Garrison a lot more than the XD45 and it shows in these targets.
In my session this week I practiced with only the XDM Elite Precision and the XD45 Mod2 Tactical, no other pistols. After 40 warm-up rounds from each I saved the last ten rounds for a head-to-head shootoff. Here I am warming up the XD45.
They're getting better. At least these hits are all on the paper.
Finally on the fourth magazine I almost got all the hits in the 10 ring.
We'll come back to the final round after I warm up the XDM Elite. Here are the first four targets with 10-shot strings. They're kind of all over the place.
The fourth target had eight hits in the 10 ring.
Drum roll please!
Here are the last two targets with the last 10 hits from each pistol. First the XD45.
OK, I like that ragged hole near the bullseye but would like to tighten up the rest. Here's the last ten hits from the XDM.
OK, maybe a slightly tighter group but not as many hits on the actual bullseye. What do you think? I think it's too close to call. I'm sure that means I'm going to have to practice more with both of them. Oh boy!
This was all at 10 yards today. Once I get more of the bullseyes chewed out I'll start increasing the distance. Thanks for letting me share my fun.
Happy New Year!
Thank you for your indulgence,
