Hi guys,

I did not file an AAR last week because I SUCKED! I wanted to be able to report something better. Last week I went to the range to compare the XD9 with the XDM Elite Precision, along with the Garrison 1911 .45 against the XD45 Mod2 Tactical.

ABLVV84hb15ACUVDWHUz62XHyuqssnwY9CuXfbIvkEYtpK1KVszNg7j_lQ9f7jPoOL_CWSzj7Lna3FhZ_YWLYYUrcW7hBcFCwbySe356hEuVduf8tfyoEDaX2Hz71XHLJttTnnwH_TyigrVsmrc_CiYpqRZ4_g=w1648-h927-s-no

My plan was to shoot a few warm-up magazines with each pistol, then have a face-off with a final magazine from each. I warmed up with the XD9 first.

ABLVV85gi0KgA-nCf6NJ9ujM5Z9-nVoPyj73Sfo0fdwNnBgUKogkOwPNWy-sBtFppMP6k-Lf1o-CYKD3LUa1IyZoibWpgFSC0yUQtzP31tS_bo1PrYFtidGHJD33oZA-DpLtEPBX1YUGSX69nxn2Gk7R-X4zeg=w1236-h927-s-no

Then I warmed up with the XDM Elite Precision.

Then I used Splatterburst targets for the last magazine out of each 9mm pistol. Here's my EDC XD9.

Today it seems that I'm shooting my EDC more accurately even though I'm giving up 1.25" in barrel length. I guess that would make sense. Out of all my pistols it's the XD9 I've shot and trained with the most, plus I love the sights on it. I guess that means I need more practice with the XDM. Don't worry. I'll get it.

I did the same thing that day with my two .45 pistols, the Garrison 1911 and the 'new-to-me' XD45 Mod2 Tactical. Warming up with the Garrison.

And warming up with the XD45.

I saved the last ten shots from each pistol for a shoot-off. Here's the last magazine from the Garrison.

For today I guess it's the same story. I've shot the Garrison a lot more than the XD45 and it shows in these targets.

In my session this week I practiced with only the XDM Elite Precision and the XD45 Mod2 Tactical, no other pistols. After 40 warm-up rounds from each I saved the last ten rounds for a head-to-head shootoff. Here I am warming up the XD45.

Finally on the fourth magazine I almost got all the hits in the 10 ring.

We'll come back to the final round after I warm up the XDM Elite. Here are the first four targets with 10-shot strings. They're kind of all over the place.

OK, maybe a slightly tighter group but not as many hits on the actual bullseye. What do you think? I think it's too close to call. I'm sure that means I'm going to have to practice more with both of them. Oh boy!

This was all at 10 yards today. Once I get more of the bullseyes chewed out I'll start increasing the distance. Thanks for letting me share my fun.

Happy New Year!

Finally on the fourth magazine I almost got all the hits in the 10 ring.

We'll come back to the final round after I warm up the XDM Elite. Here are the first four targets with 10-shot strings. They're kind of all over the place.

Drum roll please!

Here are the last two targets with the last 10 hits from each pistol. First the XD45.

OK, I like that ragged hole near the bullseye but would like to tighten up the rest. Here's the last ten hits from the XDM.

Why are you shooting consistently way left and at 10 yards? Sights? Trigger finger placement? You should be placing every shot in the ten ring, no matter how fast you are shooting. In a gun fight you could easily miss your target. You are right handed?

I guess you could say, "E - All the above." :ROFLMAO:

I know I am trying to control the pistol too much, my strong hand can have a death grip which makes it almost impossible to pull the trigger straight back. When I relax my strong hand just a little and grip more with my left hand, I'm able to manipulate the trigger without pulling the muzzle off target.

Did you shoot all your guns before the shoot off or did you do your shoot off with each gun as you progressed through your targets?
I have a hard time seeing black sights against a black background. High visibility sights make a big difference to me.
I like the looks of your Garrison and the Mod Grip guns.

I saved the "shoot off" until the end, after I had "warmed up" the "competitors".

The three dot sights on the Garrison are just OK. Same with the fiber optic front sights on the XDM and XD45. I'd like to upgrade them all with tritium Speed Sights but the XD models are out of stock, back order only. I'm not even sure I can put them on a 1911. I might have to figure out something else for these aging eyes. 😉

Get your grip under control- trigger press is what it is called. Do you have a heavy trigger?6-7# maybe

They are all stock triggers, probably between 4-5 lbs. I'd have to check the specs or find a reviewer on Youtube that measures it.

Hi,

I appreciate everyone's help. You all know I have my good days and bad days. 😉

This was one of my better days. Here's my Garrison 1911 in .45, 10 rounds at 10 yards.

I just have to get in the habit of doing everything right, all the time. 😉
