Excessive Heat

High heat warnings already went up for the rest of the week. It will be well into the 100's. I tell you the heat is exhausting. The only thing that thrives here are weeds. With the 4th of July coming and all the fireworks that will be fired off, I see a disaster coming. There has been no rain here for months and we have already had a few fires in the mountains.

All I can say is best of luck. I figure it's moving here to Ohio, we will get the heat plus humidity which drains me.

Keep track of the flamethrowers at the fire stations, because there have been fires started by people who had access to them before. I'm talking about what has happened in Ruidoso on more than 1 occasion.

We've been getting rain. It rained here Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was great temperature wise and today is supposed to be too. Tomorrow the broiler comes on and it'll be upper 90s for the next 5 days at least.

52 here this morning. We’ve had a very nice, albeit wet, spring. Supposed to get up there this weekend. When it does come this way we get heat AND humidity.

We've had a lot of rain this spring with periods of 90-100 degrees. Nice this morning and I can hear the next thunderstorm approaching.

Florida is finally getting some tropical moisture moving in. Big storms last night and forecast for the next few days. No where near enough yet to impact the drought we're in. Lightning is bringing lots of wildfires.

The rain will produce a lot of new growth, which will die and dry out with two days of sunshine, thus increasing the fire danger.

Nothing but 100+ here for the past two weeks or so. We've had a couple of breaks over that period but dropping to 95 deg F isn't much of a break. It is currently 109 deg F here in Apache Junction, AZ down from 110 yesterday. Gotta love the desert.

I'll take Flagstaff temps over any southern AZ temp any day! When I was there back in 2000 or 2001 during October it was horrible. Temps stayed over 100 and nights were over 90 every night. The night I left (about 10pm) it was 98. By the time I got to Flagstaff it was 48 (my kind of weather). I was wearing shorts and a tank top which felt just right. Although living all of my life in the same town anything over 80 degrees sucks! Low humidity most of the time which is fine with me as south Texas humidity sucks even during the winter! I'm glad you like that kind of weather and best to you!

I don't really miss those SoCal summer temps, but it's a dry heat and it never rains. You can always plan an outside activity.

Here we will make it into the mid 80s this week but it's going to rain at least three days. Everything is green and growing. I do way too much yard work.

Yeah, you were shoveling snow in September last year. Looked like a whole 1/2” on your sidewalk.
