Good read a little history on the different frames from Smith and Wesson

Good read, all those frame sizes can be confusing to someone new. and even ones that are not.
Yesh, thats me.
I have a 1971 .357 mag 6” barrel model 19-3 and I have no clue what frame a model 19-3 is ???

S&W experimented with another frame I wish they had made. The C frame was roughly the size of Colt D frames (Detective Special, Cobra, etc). It was meant to give S&W a sixth round gun that was as small as possible; a match to the Colts.

The cylinder stop was offset to one side so the stop cuts in the cylinder would fall between the chambers. This cylinder stop location gave them fits in the design process and they abandoned the idea as not worth the trouble.

That’s too bad. It would’ve been a neat gun.
