An Old School Solution to a Very Modern Threat: Shotguns vs Drones

First Person View (FPV) drones have emerged in a few years as a very serious threat to military personnel and vehicles alike. The humble shotgun can offer a last line of defense for the soldier and it seems to be making a resurgence on the battlefield.

What’s old is new again!!!!!

While drones could (maybe) be easier to shoot than hand grenade a due to loiter time bs thrown object he main issue would be volume of drones bs how many shotguns you have!

I have some pretty good emergency reloading skills with the ole 870 but an army of 10 drones I’d probably be hit on that one.

18 USC 32. makes it a felony to damage or destroy an aircraft, with up to 20 years in prison. The FAA considers drones "aircraft". People get all bent out of shape when I point this out and want to start talking about balsa toy gliders and frisbees and what is aircraft, :coffee:. Take it up with the FAA, I'm just giving the info.
I got the impression that the article was about the military defending itself from attackers which is a whole other

Once again, the humble shotgun rides to the rescue.

Isnt it illegal to shoot at drones, even private ones? Something about FAA rules IIRC?
I’m pretty sure the situation comes up where where you’d be shooting drones for actual self-protection, FAA rules would be the last thing you’re worried about.
It is illegal to discharge a firearm in cities or towns. Per just about every state/city regs in the land. Unincorporated areas, well, S.S.S. - 3 S rule
Let the shithead perp prove he had a drone where a drone should not be😊

It is 100% illegal. My buddy is an FAA licensed commercial drone pilot.

From the FAA website: ”Shooting at an unmanned aircraft could result in a civil penalty from the FAA and/or criminal charges from federal, state or local law enforcement. ”

If ever there was a case for Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up, this may be it.

I’m certainly not advocating anyone break an existing law, but it reads to me as on a case by case basis …..

There are enough pervy kiddos out there who might commandeer daddy’s drone and go peeping tom.

There are more than enough perv. dados out there also.

True. And just criminals in general. They could use drones to case a neighborhood or building.
This. I feel sorry for city folk dealing with this crap. Out in the country there is NO excuse for a drone flying near a house. No kids within a mile and 1/2. The neighbors and I are all old folks.

Yep a shotgun especially a turkey AR(i want one) is the best weapon against them but the Jerzey "drones" weren't shot-down probably because guns are barely legal to own there.....

I love Taufledermaus.

Use a KSG25
One of the best channels.... he has a few drone killer rounds he machs....... some of what Ge-Off shows is for sale and he/they got me wanting to be a shell "designer"..... "You Make It, We Mach It"

I am in the process of designing a miniature 4 wheel drive off road remote controlled seeker. You want find someone or thing you hold the sent in front of its Jimmy Durant nose and push the seek button and away it goes. So far I think it seems really well cause it hasn't come home yet and it's solar powered so I will wait till winter to see if it can be found.😁🤣
