Okay, so I went to the range today with the PDP and the VP9SK, and five magazines for each. I ran Blazer Brass 124gr through all of them. Started with the Walther. The first mag ran flawlessly. The second mag (15 round) I fired the first round, no problem. The second round jammed and the slide stuck open. I tried to drop the mag, but nope. I did a smack on the butt and tried again. Nope. Called the RSO over and he tried. Nope. Finally, after he smacked it a few times and tried to drop the mag with no luck, I was able to pull the slide back a little bit and press the mag release, and he had to pull the magazine out and the round fell out.

I never had a malfunction like that before. I did a function check and it seemed fine, so I inserted the mag and fired off the rest of the ammo with no issues. The remaining mags ran fine. Now, I don't have as much experience shooting as a lot of you guys do, so my question is...what sort of thing causes a malfunction like that? I have my theories, but I have about 500 or so rounds out of that gun with absolutely no issues (ammo or equipment wise) until now. Here's the round..

It may be my old eyes but the bullet seems to be “long”. Check the length with another round. Can you wiggle it around?

I am by no means and expert but this was my thought too. As trouble-free as I've found Blazer Brass to be, there are "tolerances" in the manufacturing process. I've used a caliper to measure a few cartridges in a box and found a bit of variance between the longest and shortest. I had a similar thing happen to me today at the range.

This is Federal Champion .22, which has never given me an issue with the TX22. I think this round was just a little long and did not make it up the feed ramp all the way into the chamber. It got dinged up when the slide tried to go back into battery. This malfunction was a lot easier to clear than yours. At this point I'm with @Warrior9(Ret) and suspect that single round. It was at the limit of the manufacturing tolerance but was just enough to cause a jam in your pistol (tolerance stacking?). I take it the rest of the session went off without a hitch. Just my thoughts, could the round have tilted upward before being stripped from magazine? I have removed the loaded magazine from the Prodigy after 1 or 2 shots and the next round was a quarter way forward in mag..about to fall out.
Looks like the nose of the bullet was damaged by hitting the upper rim of the chamber when nudging into battery. I am by no means an expert, just an observation.
