is it so or wishful thinking

Not to stir the pot here, life was fine before any background checks before purchasing a firearm, I don’t believe in the background checks myself, do you need one to buy a car…. a house…..or something else, no! If someone wants a gun to do bad things, they will find a way regardless of background checks. This is just me and like I said not trying to stir any pots here, just my thoughts.

Agreed. I’m not sure of the process of if someone is convicted of a felony in terms of physically taking someone’s CCW permit. But until they are convicted, their right shouldn’t be taken away. Just being accused of a crime doesn’t take away your 2A rights.

On a personal level, I like the CCW no NICS check. I got in some trouble in 1979 that always delays me on BGCs and NFA purchases. No trouble since then and all that has been straightened out, but it’s still a PITA.

My father and i had this same discussion a few weeks ago and he shares Anchorite opinion. I don’t know if i would call my thoughts apathy or ambivalent…i guess that’s a bit of ambivalence or possibly dividing by zero 😂. anyhoo, the point i kept coming back to as we discussed is that guardrails only work for those that chose to follow them.

I’ve stood in court for years and I have witnessed first hand numerous times the domestic violence cases are handled. I know for a fact that there have been convictions handed down from the bench and law enforcement does not get ordered to confiscate any firearms nor does the defendant get ordered to surrender his permit to the court. And some of these people are good candidates to be disarmed.

Our probation officers in the criminal cases can attest to the fact that there are some bad people who still have their guns and permits after scrapes with the law and convictions.

The LGS has no way to confirm that background unless they check NCIS. My local sheriffs office isn’t going to help if they get called, nor would they be able to divert resources to check. I just think the permit is not good enough.
