Not an AR15 kinda guy but....

I have a similar set up. I went with a 10.5” though for ballistic reasons. And a Sylvan Arms folder.

I’d like it to be about an inch or two shorter but I don’t want to give up that velocity.

I have a couple 10.5" as well
And a 8" 300 blackout, with a Law Tactical Folding adapter. Trijicon MRO RDS

The 7.5" has a Law Tactical Folding adapter. Holosun HS510c RDS. Fits into a 18" sling bag. With 3 extra mags and a med kit, few other things. It's a daily truck gun

Have a stainless 4.5" KAK barrel with one upper, but it's really only good for making fireballs and noise. I use it with a CMMG 22 Conversion

I have been obsessing over a 45acp Banshee for a couple weeks. Is it fussy about ammo? I see one in my future. Maybe I should lie down until the lust passes.

Not fussy at all. It will digest FMJ, SJHP, SP & partitions with no problems. I had a Kriss Vector and it wasn't happy with anything besides FMJ rounds. It was a sweet shooter, though.

All I can say is don't take a nap. Get thee to your local firearms store or go online and GET ONE!

I dunno. For a “throw it under the seat” truck gun a hi point carbine in 10 mm wouldn’t be a bad choice ( and if if gets banged up or swiped you haven’t lost much)😊

I was toying around with building an “other” in 556 but was concerned about the blast factor. I have an Ultradyne Athena (i believe) linear comp on an PSA AR i put together.
The linear comp helps with the noise, by pushing it down range, rather than back in the shooter's face.

Look in the bright side, we may soon be able to get suppressors without F Troop approval. That would be particularly nice for these short guns.

Sorry guys, but I'm completely opposed to the entire concept of a "truck gun", "car gun" or any weapon permanently left in a vehicle. This ain't the 1960s when every pick-up had a gun rack in the back window. Vehicle burglary is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country. Even rural areas are no longer safe. Here in the Memphis area its reached epidemic proportions.
Yeah, I know, use something cheap so you won't lose much if stolen. But bear in mind that you've still provided a criminal with a working firearm. 🤬
Any time there's gun in my vehicle, so am I. And its usually attached to me so it leaves when I do.

I don't think the idea is to actually leave it in the truck all the time.

I make it a habit to not leave guns in cars unattended myself.

I had a truck gun, as it were—a long gun kept out of sight behind the seat—for years.

In fact, I had two truck guns, come to think of it; I also kept a .22 H&R in a pocket of the seat cover.

This was as recently as 10-15 years ago…no problems with it.

Never had what I considered a dedicated car gun, but, I had a gun that was in the car every day, but went in at night, not much distinction there lol. It was part of my GHB car kits. For most of it life was the pistol was, still is, an East German Makarov with 5 magazines. Two mags in each pouch of a dual mag pouch.

When you cruise the land, looking for cattle, hogs, and seeing whats on the property, a “truck gun” is required.
Nestled in between the passenger seat and the center console.
Gets used quite often.
Goes back in its shelter when going back to the city
