What footprint is the slide cut ? I’d try to go with an optic that mounts directly to the slide. Unless you have suppressor height sights. You’re going to want it to co-witness with your irons.

Starting the refinishing on the Field Grade M1 I got with a 2014 replaced stock. The finish was really light, really dull and already scuffing. Past the receiver, no historical significance.
My horrific process:
Take off the stock, spray with non-chlorinated brake cleaner - takes everything off. Let dry, really light sanding, wet wipe, dry. 3 coats of Russet color leather dye. Let dry. First coat of linseed oil, hand to dry. Will rub with steel wool and add one linseed oil coat every night this week, then let it dry for nearly a week while I'm on a work trip. When I get back it should be better than new. For the top handguards, I just gave them an over-rub with the russet and the first coat of oil - they'll get the same number of coats of oil and roughly match. It's a shooter, not a presentation model.

Optic mounts directly. Sights are short. They suggest Holosun 407c or 507 c.

I just got back from the range and changing the backstrap did help but I am still having issues with the sights. I can't say its because i'm old because this is the only one I am having issues with. So with that in mind if I don't want to get rid of the gun I have to put the optic on. It will be a Holosun but why the 507c compared to the 407c? It will be a green sight no matter what.

If you meet a salesman you might just drive out with a new one!
The only difference in the 507 and 407 is multi-reticle vs. just the dot. If you'll only ever use the dot and not the circle/circle dot, the 407 is what you want.

This spring we got a notice from GM saying the purge pump might be defective, so they gave us a 10 year warranty on it, well, the check engine light is the purge pump, they ordered a new one and will replace it, safe to drive since it’s just a emission issue
