Some tips for Long-Term gun storage. I should probably do some of these for my collection of Military era firearms that I want to preserve. I do put most of them into silicone Gun Socks, in cabinets with GoldenRods within. I'd like to get a safe or two, but need to find the space to put them.

Did this with my Edge back in February just to see if our FoodSaver vacuum sealer could do it. Took 38" of FoodSaver mat'l to accomplish it. 20200215_152314.jpg

For long-term gun storage, give your firearm a thorough clean and light oiling, slip it into a silicone-treated gun sock, control humidity with silica packs or a dehumidifier rod, store ammo separately in a dry sealed container, and check it every few months to wipe down and re-oil — moisture is the real enemy, so keep it dry and protected.

That would work for us guys that have only one or two guns but some here would take 6 months to wipe all theirs down and then be time to do it over and that's working 8 hours a day at it. I won't name any names but ..."AHEM" well ok i just won't name any. :ROFLMAO:

Also not very appropriate for guys whose only guns in long term storage are buried in the woods somewhere. 😉🤣

True story … I had a client once that claimed his father, a Korean War vet, buried PVC containers upright throughout his property so that the tops were at 6’ of depth. He would use cosmoline and nitrogen to purge any gasses from the tubes.

Poor guy never could find any of his father’s tubes after he passsed and we probated the will and son inherited the property. Or if he did find any, he didn’t tell me. 😆

PVC and cosmoline is the standard.
