When it comes down to it, what is your "go to" EDC?

I guess I didn’t tell the entire truth when I posted before that I carry a HiPower with a red dot. I’m a believer in carrying multiple guns, and I also carry:
S&W model 12, 2” RB. Appendix.
S&W 642UC. Ankle.

I choose revolvers for those uses for a couple of reasons. Due to where they get carried, spare/BUG guns get exposed to more dirt/lint/crud than #1 gets. Revolvers can be manually worked through “carry crud” easier than an auto. The 12, due to its carry location, would be more likely used in a belly-to-belly fight. Here, I think the snub revolver works best.

OK…
Posting again lets me say one more time that the S&W Model 12 is a gift from the heavens.

I am giving my SIG P220 a break and strapped on the SIG 1911 STX today. Keeping it in the 45 acp family, of course.

I've been EDCing this regularly at work lately. After EDCing a 2.5" 686+ for the last couple of years, this thing feels like a toy. I still carry the 686 when not at work.

I own a Shield Plus too. That would probably be something I carried regularly, but it's a piece of crap. I don't have much faith in S&W anymore, so I'd probably won't buy anything else they sell going forward.

For guns...
Old days, pre covid...SW Airlite scandium .357/.38 snub.
Now, after America reimagined, it is 1 or 2 9mm Hellcats or a G19 + extra mag.
If I go out of the house in mesh shorts to take out the trash, I throw a SW Bodyguard 2.0 .380 in the pocket. You have to be careful with the Bodyguard. Mag button protrudes too much, it needs a redesign.
Car is loaded up with Taurus G3's. $270 each.
When lotto hits will replace car G3's with G17s.
And when I say loaded, the car has 4 G3s all around.
Front seat gun (when warranted) is a Keltec P50 with silencer. Trunk gun does no good while driving and you can't get to it or shoot it with 1 hand while driving.

Revolvers and 1911's days are gone. America reimagined finished them off. Why carry 5 shots when you can have 12 or 13. Plus 9mm auto offers more penetration and less recoil than the snub. Revolvers lose gas from the cylinder gap, it is a less efficient design. An auto uses all the gas. Even so, I wish SW made a 3-inch scandium revolver, 8 shot .327 mag for CCW for if and when semi-auto is banned. Just a matter of time before the pendulum swings.

Oh...almost forgot. I still use a revolver. A .38 SW Airweight snub. I throw it in the robe pocket when taking a sauna. No rust after 13 years of steam saunas. Maybe 30x saunas a year. Ammo holds up fine as well. Tested ammo after 5 years of sauna and worked fine. But I still swap it out periodically.

Got to admit, Covid did little to effect my firearms related purchases, except to replace ammunition i burned at the range and maybe bulk up a tad more. Pantry wise I replaced what we used, added a tad more of things we really preferred, and have added more medicines in stock for my wife's needs. We did change gift giving to giving my daughters family and nephews and nieces ammunition and pantry gifts over frivolous things.

As far as fear of looting, rioting etc, Covid was a. None issue in my area, never even heard of a fist fight over anything. And you tend to hear sallthe gossip, i mean news at Local Floyd's barbershop.

I did however buy my first 9mm double stack pistol during the BLM days and associated troubles, specifically to carry to Detroit for wife's Dr visits.

I have carried for so many years that I can't remember all my favorites. It seems when you go to the emergency room now they scan you with the magic wand, started a couple of years ago. My wife has made many trips and I have become known to some of the security staff,I have a lot of metal inside me and they know I have a dual defibrillator, the wand can set that thing off. I told them they need to make uppass for the folks like me.
