I’ve always entertained the idea of owning a classic car. I’ve owned 3 Mustangs from ‘67 to ‘95 and a couple Thunderbirds over the years. They were pretty much by necessity drivers. Recently I’ve gone pure classic with no reason but pleasure to get it out.

Nothing exotic, but it has the vibe.

One of my first cars was a 1967 Fairlane GT.

I've had 3 Cadillacs. A 69 Coupe, a 71 Coupe and a 67 Sedan.

Several Mustangs, including a pair of Mach 1s which I owned simultaneously. Both 351s. One Cleveland and one Windsor. And a 35th Anniversary GT.

I was wondering about that, too. But then, i almost asked if the Cobra had a 289, so i can get clueless sometimes.

I'm not ALWAYS clueless. I was just at the national Shelby convention and saw dozens of Cobras-even a Daytona Coupe.

But when the air cleaner with the bright red decal says '302' on it, i shouldn't admit i couldn't figure it out for a second.

No way I'm gonna be able to read the emblem on the Galaxie. But it's a kool car. I can't remember the last time i saw one.
 
The original Cobras in 1962 were 260 cubic inch plants, but they switched over to 289 271 Horse solid lifter engines pretty quickly. In 1965 the big block 427/428 cars came out. Mine is a factory built replica from South Africa. A Backdraft Racing model. The 1100 or so original cars are out of my financial reach, and even if I could buy one I would be afraid to drive it. This one I don't feel bad about driving this one like it was still 1965!

My brother's Galaxy 500 had a 390ci in it. When it was rebuilt it became a 401ci maybe, 40? Something anyway. It would get it! Unfortunately someone hit it hard while parked on the street and it bent the frame and crinkled the drivers side door from the rear end impact. He was more than upset, the motor never hit 750 miles after the rebuild. I must say, he was more than happy when a guy bought the motor and transmission, he almost made money 🤑
 
Love the Indian! I had 30 accident free years riding under my belt...even though I consider myself a car guy there was actually a time in my life I didn't own a car/truck but had three motorcycles. Then I got married in 2012! (I was without adult supervision for a LONG time) I was riding less and less because my wife would not get on the back of a bike for love nor money. She did like convertibles however. Finally I gave my Harley to my older brother and bought the Cobra for a 50th birthday present!

And yeah SL66, the original Cobra's usually trade hands around a million and it goes up from there. Too rich for me. Heck, my Ford dealer has trucks on his lot that cost more than my first brand new house did when I was 22 in 1988!

not a F-or-D or a de-oh gee person, but do like the 60's to early 70's cars of both. i found 1 of these in a town i drive by a lot. i need to stop and ask if it's for sale. it looks very close to this pic as it is a falcon..i care less if it's original or ever stays that way, but wouldn't mind having this bad boy! i'm pretty sure it's a falcon and not a fairlane.

Exactly. My car isn't Cobra money, yet i've gone from being afraid to let it out of my sight, to being afraid to hustle the car much just because it's so easy to run out of talent (the early GT500s are not always immediately user-friendly) and now i'd hate hit something. Forty years ago that wasn't as much of a concern.
