are you wanting the metal or just a heavier 40? m/p has a poly 2.0 in 40. any specific barrel length(s)?
so, you want the 4" rather than the 4.22-4.25"I’m just wanting something different than Glock for a .40 S&W. The only fanboy I’ll be is for compact size.
what's an x-short....4.4"?If only you could get your hands on a Sig Mastershop X-Short .40 S&W…

I’ll admit I been wanting one but was getting distracted because of the magazine count (Illinois only allows 15 rounds). Yes I know I mentioned a .40 S&W but 10MM has a sweet spot still. The elite is my favorite SA handgun.
So would I. Personally it’s not so easy finding a .40 like any others.I'd like to see more 40S&W options.
I'm glad i got my 9mm elites before they quit making them.

There are plenty of slightly used police trade in Sig 226/229 40’s that could ba an alternative for around 400
Check out aim surplus
That said out of the choices of new guns if I wanted a 40 you said 800 was a lot but the M&P either metal or polymer then a HK USP would be my 2 choices since they were originally engineered for 40
I think that last 3 or 4 state police agencies running 40 are California (M&P 2.0) and Illinois and MD (Glock 22) and SD (Sig 226) but Illinois is changing to 9mm this year
Bingo. I just picked up a used (although you cannot tell) P229 that was “reconditioned “ at Sig for $500. Only had one magazine, but they aren’t hard to source. There are plenty of slightly used police trade in Sig 226/229 40’s that could ba an alternative for around 400
