I have two gunsmith friends-neither of which will touch a Taurus anymore. Why? Taurus apparently doesn’t do well on getting parts out when needed. Customer brings in gun, ‘smith orders parts (repeatedly, parts don’t show, time goes by and customer is mad at the ‘smith. Both say “just too much of a hassle”. Also both talked about a fair number of issues with “the judge”. Just fyi. As said folks either swear by ‘em or swear AT ‘em. I’d go Smith, Ruger, or Colt

My Governor is accurate enough with .410 for snakes sitting on my zero-turn mower.

The idea of a .410 revolver is interesting for snake defense. However, the rifling in the barrel that makes them legal as opposed to a "sawed off shotgun" in the eyes of the law means that the patterns are spotty. My father purchased a S&W Governor for snakes around the farm, but ended up going back to a S&W 22/32 Kit Gun two inch because the pattern was not predictable enough in the .410. I would not utilize a .410 in a defensive role as the shot is a very poor penetrator in such a short barrel. I am talking conventional loads...I know some specialized loads have been developed for handguns, but I have not worked with them. They would be the only things I would consider for defense.

If I had your collection I would swap the target stocks off the 19 and the 65-2, add a grip adaptor and you are all set. The 19 sights are easier for me to see unlike the old days when I preferred fixed sights. Without the target trigger or hammer or the red insert front sight the 19 is my favorite configuration. Great gun in enviable condition! I like the round butt as I have stated before...but the square butt is not a deal breaker!

Didn’t buy it yet, my guy is holding it for me as I wanted to do some research on this item since I’m not a revolver aficionado. He didn’t know what he had other than an odd looking GP100. But it appears to be a first gen / older model as it has the old gray Ruger box and not the new black and red one. Hardly any carbon on the cylinder or any scoring from the cylinder being rotated.
