New Old Guy In The House

Welcome from Oregon. As mentioned by Annihilator, there's a lot of knowledge here. I'll add the knowledge base here is well versed on a very wide variety of topics. It is pretty hard to come in here and try to BS about anything because I guarantee someone here chewed that dirt. Contribute to the conversations where you can and it'll be appreciated by the group. So kick off your boots, grab a beverage, take a seat, and have some FUN! By the way, you don't happen to own a Buick or a YEET Cannon, do you?

Now don’t forget about the PBR. I won’t mention anything about the banjos 🪕 and Bigfoot.

Howdy everyone. New guy from Nashville here and just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

I've been shooting forever it seems, at least 50 years, and while I've shot a lot of 1911 models I've never owned one myself. I recently rectified that oversight with a Springfield 1911 Ronin in .45ACP and am really enjoying it. I shot Beretta pistols for a number of years in USPSA and IDPA but they behave like different animals so I'm actually having fun "Retraining" myself on a new platform.

I also reload most of my ammo. I reloaded all of the .40 S&W I shot in USPSA and IDPA and load a lot of .223 for my AR-15 and a little bolt gun I play with. Nothing high-volume, just enough to keep me shooting.

I'm a retired engineering designer and got out of the working day life just in time for COVID to shut everything down in 2020. But that's OK, I volunteer as a Range Safety Officer at a state-owned range and since we don't get paid our one perk is that we have a code to the gate and can come shoot anytime we want at no charge.

So that's me in a nutshell. I'm going to go wander around this forum and see what there is to see and just enjoy myself. Thanks for having me and I look forward to meet new people and share information.
Welcome to the forum from Southern Colorado! Nashville's a great place and lots of opportunity for competition. My Son lives out there so I usually fly out twice a year. He does USPSA and Steel Challenge fairly regularly.

I quit shooting USPSA and IDPA about 2005 and at that time there were about 4 clubs shooting IDPA within about 25 miles of Nashville as well as at least 2 (and it sees like there were 3) clubs shooting USPSA but one of them at Oak Ridge was about 140 miles away. Still, we could shoot both weekend days most weeks if we wanted to (and I usually wanted to!!). Some of the clubs have folded up now but others are still around and doing OK. There is also one Cowboy Action club that is (as far as I know) still shooting once a month. It was a great time for shooters.

Hey Super Craig, welcome to the forum. Don’t listen to any of these guys. I’ve told them time and time again not to haze the new guys so now they’re all BANNED.

Please don't ban them on my account. I appreciate the prompt service but they were just having fun. How about instead of banning them we just make them clean everyone's guns for a year or hold up the target stands while we shoot or something like that :p
