I love Mas Ayoob's take on anything, but I have to also ask about more Hellcat articles. I've had my original since they came out and love it. I've added a Veridian red laser and Powder River Precision trigger, which is awesome. I appendix carry with a Crossbreed holster. It's a great CCW pistol; showcase it please! Can we get more articles about the Hellcat rather than 1911 by Ayoob... Honestly, with people being disgruntled with Glock, advertising the Hellcat would be a great idea....

Dropping the slide should be avoided in 1911’s due to the internal extractor. It has to be tuned and without a round of ammo gets abused. Modern semi autos with external extractors are more robust so Glocks Sig’sI've read numerous articles that have opined how dropping the slide on an empty chamber in a modern semi-automatic (e.g., Springfield Echelon, Glock 19, etc.) will not harm the firearm. I tend to agree with Mr. Ayoob on most everything related to firearms, but with the robustness of current semi-autos, is it really that harmful to drop that slide on an empty chamber? While there may be good reason not to do so on a 1911 (I'm not an engineer and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), I'm curious if it's ruinous to the rest of our semi-autos (or at least as ruinous as some are making out).
