S&W 3913

mikep

Hellcat
New to me S&W 3913. I’ve wanted one for a couple years. One was at my LGS last year for $500. I passed on it and kicked myself afterward when it sold. I said if i come across one for $500 i’ll jump on it. This one came with 5 factory mags and is in good shape. Functions fine but boy do I need to get used to this trigger! 🤣
At any rate, I am happy with my pickup.

Nice pickup! Had one many years ago, great gun, enjoy, you’ll get used to the trigger…

3913NL "rescue" - found her on 2/11/2019 sitting in the used case at Glockmeister (Mesa,AZ). They didn't value this old girl very much. I thought they had $550 on her, but when I asked to take a closer look, they had her marked at $350. I had to take her home to get the love she deserved with the others of her kind.

She is in good company. Nice collection.

I had a 3914 (blue version) back in the 1990s. It was my EDC for a while. Great gun, but I'm not a fan of bobbed hammers. I discovered that a 5906 hammer will go right in and swapped it out. I liked it even better then. ;)
Sold it during the Y2K scare for a sizable profit.

I think the bobbed hammer is my favorite feature of my 457. A year or two ago I got the itch to get a new EDC. Based strictly upon pictures I decided I HAD to get a SA XDE .45. I carried it for a day and put it back into the box and reholstered the good ol' 457. The hammer on the XDE dug into my flab and after a day of carry I decided I didn't need a new EDC. I went right back to the tried & true. It was no easy task to find that XDE and it shot good enough to carry but that hammer really needed a design change.

Yup , bobbed hammer on DA/SA has strong opinions both ways . As noted , on the old school S&W Autos , the hammers were interchangeable within each Generation.

My 469 ( interesting Transitional gun , kind of Gen 2.5 ) had the bobbed hammer . If you asked me, l would say l would have preferred the Spur . But l lived with it well enough , l didn't feel need to swap .

Great snag and beautiful gun.

Long live the 3rd Gen Smith & Wesson product line. All i want for Christmas is for production to resume.

I have a few in my stable and I’ll never let them go.

And the first thing I look for at any gun show I go to are magazines.
