My EDC, Pepper Spray 😲

Never tied that. Decades ago when I was a wanna be cop aka security guard, I use to carry pepper spray because it was more accurate than my Gen 1 S&W M&P.
Damn bro, you hit all the buzzwords.

Yea, that's the S&W Gen 1 that had accuracy issues as well as frame flex. I believe the superior M&P 2.0 addressed those and other issues. It used to be a popular and regularly issued L.E. pistol, but unfortunately they drop them and and moved away from S&W before the 2.0 came out

Old picture of my M&P 2.0 that I've had for going on 8 years now.

I think but not sure. I just searched the same profile name that you're using here. Last post around 3 years ago. Is that you or someone else? Good post if that is you. I'm glad you're okay.

Anyway back to the topic of EDCing pepper spray!

When I worked for G4S they issued me saber red pepper gel. I really wasn't impressed. I won't say it didn't affect me but it took an awful long time before it did.
Now I carry Sabre Red SPRAY.
I didn't know a gel version existed until this thread. Glad I purchased the spray and not the gel if you're experience is the norm. I started to doubt myself based on others here prefering the gel.

Not with the right concentration. Buy the strong mixed solution, not the weak stuff
I seen a guy take a full can Of fox to the face like it was water. I'm talkin the stuff you need a l8cense for too. I 100% support less lethal carry always though. I f8nd both fox and Sabre to be good. You gotta use the proper spray 8fnu carry a taser though

I worked as a security guard for 15 years, I never ever ever had to use my gun.

Almost every time that I ran into somebody who was giving me a hard time or threatening me or cussing me out I just reached in my pocket and pulled out my OC and started shaking it up. I can't think of a single time that that didn't deescalate the situation almost immediately.

Actually, that's not true I can think of one time but that one time was a baby coyote who wasn't going to take no for an answer if I didn't feed him.

I say the same thing every time this topic comes up, it's almost like people don't believe that you'll really shoot them (assuming that drawing the gun at all was justified) but they do believe that you will pepper spray them.

After I left G4S I carried UDAP spray. I got exposed to that once and it didn't incapacitate me at all but to be fair it was blowback.

Now I carry Sabre Red SPRAY.

I believe if you're going to carry OC you should get exposed to it. Because if you spray somebody you're probably going to get exposed to it and you should know what to expect.

I'm also going to say, like I do every time, it's a violation of federal law to use bear spray in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. IOW it's illegal to spray bear spray on a human being.

I don't have the slightest idea if anybody's ever been prosecuted under that law but I do know the law exists.

some states don’t have a law/regulation on canister size or concentration of spray.
Just laws on the manner it can be used and where it is prohibited to carry.

I heard the Gel was better if you are in a breezy area. (I spend a lot of time by the ocean in Florida) and the Gel is supposed to not clear a room if sprayed inside. I only used it once and I was outdoors.

And I feel like you're lying your *** off
In order to buy law enforcement strength and sizes of pepper spray here in California you need to take a class and get a certification, be a licensed security officer or a Leo then you need to show your guard card or use law enforcement credentials to buy it. You butt hurt cause I called you out for being a cop hater? I get it clown lol . https://www.bing.com/search?q=secur...ig=694d93e816e14022826bf82fa2a708bc&pc=U531Oh

I have sprayed dozens of inmates inside Federal Penitentiaries and witnessed hundreds of issues (we averages 400 use of force incidents a year) I have only seen a couple jnmates be able to eat it.

Prior to 2012 OC was not allowed to be carried by line staff yjen in 2012 whem we were we had a 90 plus % drop in staff injuries due to it shut the fights down.

We used Sabre products however now retired I teach and am affiliated with Pom pepper spray and recommend it however Sabre is great stuff as well. Did I am not familiar with .

All that said the OC today is not the same OC as in the 90’s (like handgun defensive ammo) it is night and day difference and performs better.

Tasers are a much worse product but that is another topic!

I didn't say anything about canister size or concentration. I said there is a federal law prohibiting using OC spray specifically labeled as "Bear Spray" on a human being.
Can you cite that Fed law, because I can’t find it?
My state law only states where I’m forbidden to carry spray and that it is a crime to employ it without due cause for self defense.
Nothing at all in my state discussed bear spray being illegal

I can’t find the federal code however like wasp spray it states ā€œnot to be used on humansā€ (wasp says something in v similar and it can lead to blindness of eye contact)

And bear spray has more oil and a thicker content so unless hih are as legal to use deadly force hih could be setting yourself up for not only criminal charges but civil lawsuit as well!

I went to another Forum where there's a bunch of lawyers and I asked them and they found it.

This is what they came up with.

7 U.S. Code § 136j - Unlawful acts

(2)It shall be unlawful for any person—

(G) to use any registered pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling;

7 U.S. Code § 136 - Definitions

(ee)To use any registered pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling

The term ā€œto use any registered pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labelingā€ means to use any registered pesticide in a manner not permitted by the labeling, except that the term shall not include (1) applying a pesticide at any dosage, concentration, or frequency less than that specified on the labeling unless the labeling specifically prohibits deviation from the specified dosage, concentration, or frequency, (2) applying a pesticide against any target pest not specified on the labeling if the application is to the crop, animal, or site specified on the labeling, unless the Administrator has required that the labeling specifically state that the pesticide may be used only for the pests specified on the labeling after the Administrator has determined that the use of the pesticide against other pests would cause an unreasonable adverse effect on the environment, (3) employing any method of application not prohibited by the labeling unless the labeling specifically states that the product may be applied only by the methods specified on the labeling, (4) mixing a pesticide or pesticides with a fertilizer when such mixture is not prohibited by the labeling, (5) any use of a pesticide in conformance with section 136c, 136p, or 136v of this title, or (6) any use of a pesticide in a manner that the Administrator determines to be consistent with the purposes of this subchapter. After March 31, 1979, the term shall not include the use of a pesticide for agricultural or forestry purposes at a dilution less than label dosage unless before or after that date the Administrator issues a regulation or advisory opinion consistent with the study provided for in section 27(b) of the Federal Pesticide Act of 1978, which regulation or advisory opinion specifically requires the use of definite amounts of dilution.
