If memory serves the last time anyone ever heard of a Hoosier were the years when IU basketball ruled the courts...led by Bobby Knight.
True it's causing havocDivision 1 football is ruined with NIL allowing those that have the $$$ to buy their teams.
At least Division 2 has some level of normality.
Basketball is king in Indiana
I think college football has been forever ruined. Bigger schools with large numbers of alumni will dominate. No more loyalty to a school. Opting out of postseason play, and bowl games. It’s quickly become semi pro ball and it’s just going to get worse. Chasing money. There were players in the bowl games that had been at four different universities in five years. We’ll see what happens with graduation rates. It wasn't that long ago that if the NCAA investigated and found a team dealing with money incentives to entice prospects you would be in direct violation of a long-standing rule and those involved would either have been penalized with its record and or scholarships or worse.
These athletes have plenty of opportunity at the next level to make the BIG bucks...prove your worth on the field in college play.
I also don’t see any reversing of things now.I think college football has been forever ruined. Bigger schools with large numbers of alumni will dominate. No more loyalty to a school. I’m a Husker. Been a fan for 62 of my 74 years. Five national titles, lots of conference championships. All of the great times until 2017 rolled around. First time missing a bowl game. Starting changing coaches like toothbrushes. Will the huskers be great again with college football being what it is today? I don’t think so. Time will tell. But I like Cignetti. Man on a mission. His players have bought in to what he’s selling and it’s good. It will be a home game for Miami, but I strongly believe Indiana will spank them as well. Best of luck to all you Hoosiers. I’ll be pulling for you. Those outside Indjana probably missed this but for several years the same folks that held Bobby Night as King and Basketball as the sport had a secret……they all rooted for Notre Dame for Football.
They still live the Irish but Cignetti has filled the shoes of Bobby Night aka the General.
So yea Football will be up there with IU fans for a very long time thanks to Coach Cignetti
JMHO for being a Hoosier for 51 of my 58 years ion this planet
