Echelon with tab/lever on end of COG

Has anyone seen an Echelon with these tabs on the COG? I have a Echelon 4.0C and it does not have these. I tried to remove the COG for a deep cleaning and found this. I was able to remove the COG but now can't get it to seat.
No where on the Springfield site and other site can I find an Echelon with this tab/lever.
Is there a chance that my friend was shipped by Grab-A-Gun the wrong pistol?

Did you pull the trigger while inserting? That makes it easier to drop in at the final stage:

Looks like it needs to push back a bit - pulling the trigger slightly makes that easier.

Just FYI, there's never a reason to remove the COG for cleaning. Nothing that you can't reach with it being seated needs cleaning.

Strange that it would be that difficult when their product is made for that purpose. Hopefully they're sending a label? Shipping handguns can get expensive.

Called Springfield and it is a manual safety. And, they said it is VERY difficult to get the COG reset in the handle. So I am sending it back to them to put it back together. Luckily it will be a no charge but I will be without it for 3+ weeks.
That sucks, but best to let them do it.

I'm curious, why? The product is designed to swap the COG between grips. That's not something I'd expect SA to have to do for me at 3 weeks every grip swap.

Why is it best to let them do it vs. them documenting the right way to do it with this variant?
Cause he seems to not feel confident enough to do it himself

Some people may not be as able to fix and figure things out, as you seem to think of yourself. It must be nice to never need a repairman or mechanic, plumber etc etc. I'm glad for you sir. Me personally I need help with somethings, lol but generally overall I do ok. Some people can't. A gun/car or aircraft is the last place I would want a problem and not sure of the fix.
Again have a nice day

Well I appreciate the SA rep I spoke with and the fact that they will reinstall the cog at no charge including shipping costs. But, I have a newer SA Echelon and have removed the COG, installed a Tyrant trigger and the Powder River Spring kit with no issues. I did ask a few times on the call, could he tell me how to reinstall the COG, but he said it was very difficult and I took his advice.
