Is the 1911 the Ideal Woods Gun?

I am not any kind of fanboy, but in this particular case I carry my Gen 5 G20 MOS with a Green dot Holosun... love that 10mm punch. While I prefer my Sig P320 X10, if I fall into mud and am covered in clay and it is raining during the apocalypse, that dang Glock will still fire. Heck, just wee on it to rinse it and go...
I would be glad to help with rinsing your Glock if it falls in the mud...😁

You can pee on my Glock anytime!

This is just weird now... Don't pee on my Sig cause it will rust.
Interesting fact...Hy-Point owners drink their own urine. So, Glock owners shouldn't ask them to wiz on their pistols.

The last bear I killed was a little black bear with a bad attitude shot with one 357 round from an SP101. It could have killed one of the grizzlies we have around here in the 400-600 pound range.

It's not the calibre that makes the difference, it is the steel and brass in the shooter.

In my experience, if the bear charges from the brush you'll be damned lucky to clear gun leather much less get a controlled shot. But you must find a way to get it done. One shot; two if you're lucky.

"
45 ACP and Enforcer" refers to the popular .45 ACP pistol cartridge often loaded with Ramshot Enforcer gunpowder for faster, high-performance rounds, in a specific handgun like the Nighthawk Enforcer (a 1911-style pistol chambered in .45 ACP). The .45 ACP is a classic, powerful round, and using Enforcer powder allows reloaders to achieve impressive velocities (over 1000 FPS with 230-grain bullets) while keeping pressures safe, making it ideal for self-defense and target shooting. Additionally, competes rather effectively with the ‘almighty 10mm.’

Long long time ago I carried a 45 LC in the woods and had Spitz dog that traveled with me then I was gifted a 1911 and the load was original 200 grain solid. I lived and worked in the high country then moved and went to the desert country before I left the high country the 41 mag became my other hand gun. When I was a Deputy Sheriff I was required to carry a 357 which I like. I still carry my 1911 to this day, no 357 or 41 but we have a couple of 9s for wife to shoot. A interesting thing happened back in those early years and the department had a couple of people from FBI were involved to discuss several things. We went to a area to shoot some different weapons. At that time I had a P 38 that a friend had given to me and it pretty much stayed in storage. The one demonstration was shooting at the windshield of some cars and to my surprise the 9s ricocheted off the windshield. I still carry my 1911 and I have a revolver, 45 LC and still hope to have another 41 mag. Yes I am aware of the improvements of the 9 and I think that's great and I am not down playing the new rounds all I know is what has done the job for me and what they have stopped and at my old age I will continue with my old friends.

A 9mm may expand but a 45 won't shrink.

Or is it, "I carry a 45 because they don't make a 46,"

Perfect subject timing for me, I am looking for my first 10mm, handgun or carbine. Im not sure and have looked at the Ronin. Also considering others. Anyone have advice for me?
I have a SIG P220 10mm that is one accurate beast, but also a heavy beast to carry. Good news is it soaks up recoil.

I hear good things about the SA Ronin 1911 but I don't own one in my lineup

Guys-I keep seeing all the talk about bears- and that’s fine BUT, y’all need to remember “bears” is a pretty broad field, ranging from a 150 lb blachie to more than a 1/2 ton of Kodiak. That 150 blackie is a lot easier to deal with and the big guy. That said, Blackbeard kill a lot more folks than the big’uns do and they occupy a big portion of the states. I’ve been up close and personal with a small Blackbeard years ago-the only firearm I had with me was a small bore muzzleloader loaded for squirrels (about .22 LR power). Frankly I’d have loved to have had a .357 or ,45 at the time (and since then I usually do have a decently power handgun on board). Nothing ba d happened, he didn’t see me and I watched him until he wandered off. I tell you, when you’re expecting a fox squirrel and a bear of any size heaves into view it’ll get your attention😳
