Help w/Suppressors

Suppressors are like everything else HOW MUCH do you want to pay?

I do like 300 BO; but there are other good cartridges. I might opt for 45acp and if youre really cool do it in a HK MK23 with a Knights Armaments' suppressor

Itll be just as quite and supper cool when you ask the responding officer if you look like Bruce...?
Naw, less hair, more grey in the longer facial hair…

I'll add this. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the modular cans. I've bought a couple thinking it would be nice to use short configuration in some circumstances and the long in others. Turns out, I really don't use short at all. No point really if you want the most suppression. And as simple as it seems, it's kind of a pain to switch between them. Not hard and not real complicated, just kind of useless. I wouldn't totally discount modular cans because there are some out there that are real good in full configuration, but I wouldn't limit myself to modular thinking it would be cool to switch back and forth. YMMV.

Agree.
I have modular and dedicated caliber and the dedicated caliber cans are quieter. Lighter as well.
@Lab4Us I would get a dedicated 9mm can for your new Kuna. Congrats on the purchase btw.

Here is my 9mm dedicated vs modular caliber for comparison.

Top is a silencerco Omega46m multi cal. In short version. I took off the front half
Bottom is a silencerco Octane9 dedicated 9mm

Looks great. I already have the Vortex Crossfire that came with my Hellion Gear Up package (put an EOTECH HWS on Hellion), so I’ll start with that optic. How does that suppressor feel weight wise? Easy to keep clean?
I'm sure there will be some back and forth on this as there was in an earlier thread, but you don't have to clean it. I've asked the OCL guys and they confirmed. It's a sealed can, so I guess if you wanted to clean it, you'd have to plug the muzzle end and pour a solvent into it. It's all Titanium, so you don't have to be real careful. When I'm at the range with it, I'll usually send 10-15 rounds of supersonic through it to maybe blow away any loose junk. No problems so far. And weight wise, it's 5.7 oz without a mount. I'm not sure how much the direct thread mount weighs, but it's pretty minimal. It comes with the direct thread mount. You really can't even tell it's on the gun.

EDIT - In my earlier post, I put a link to the OCL Lithium 9 at the bottom of the post. Click on that and take a look at the specs.

Silencerco 9mm is light as well.

I would shop the sales between the 2-3 listed top brands and such. Get what offers the best deal at the time.
A lot of suppressors will come with quick detach mounts etc.. shop around .
I buy a lot here on their sales.

I will say I like the price of the Silencercos…though keep hitting out of stock. I have no idea what my LGS will have on shelf - never looked. Having same issue with other recommendations here, at least at SilencerCo. But that’s my fault, I know I’m late to the no tax stamp fee party. Like I mentioned earlier, as I need to put the Kuna through it’s paces, I’ve got time to shop around and it will give me time to work with LGS and get info about their kiosk as well.

Lithium 9 at Silencer Shop.

lol, must have restocked. Was out of stock (in black) earlier today - was the first one I searched for there. Still going to wait and see what LGS has on shelf tomorrow. Thanks!

I’d go SMG, SBR for pure home defense in 9mm if looking for a typical home defense set up for cqb intruders.
Quieter, and lots of options for guns combined with suppressor brands
I run 5 brands of suppresors. across all calibers from .270 win down to .22. & 9mm.
A 9” barrel with 147 subsonic 9mm is stupid quiet. Quieter than any of my .300bo combos. As well as its a lighter platform.
A Kuna, MP5/ clone like AP5, or other 9mm smg/pistol would be ideal over .300bo IMO.

Worked well for the SAS at the Embassy and countless of raids by military/LEO in pure urban, home/office setting.

My .02 cents

Edit; we guide for hogs with .300bo suppressed. Daughter runs a nice sbr as well. Tons of hogs down with them. Based on that, is why I say 9mm suppressed over .300bo for pure HD.
My AP5SD with a Dead Air Wolfman is hearing safe. I run a Diligent Defense Enticer on an 11.5 AR and it is very quiet, but it is not compact and not the easiest to maneuver round the house with.

Lithium 9 at Silencer Shop.

So hit the range today and figured I‘d check with the shop on their in stock silencers. All the 9mm were HUGE and none that we discussed here. They did let me set up an account on the kiosk and the one with the ATF, so I have all that set to go now, fingerprints, picture and all.

Then I got home and SilencerShop had sent me an email about taking a quiz to see what type of silencer would be for me. Surprise! First option given was the Otter Creek Labs Lithium. Even better? It took me to a link that let me put it in my cart and buy it, though it had showed backordered at my LGS. Everything has now been done that I can do and they are working with dealer for next steps. So…thanks for all your help (EVERYONE). Spectre 9 and Octane 9 were both out of stock and I don’t want to go to the huge sizes. We’ll see how I like this one and perhaps I’ll try some of your other recommendations down the road.

P.s. Can’t wait to try suppressed Kuna at the range! Kuna should arrive at LGS tomorrow afternoon.

You’re on your way! Shooting suppressed is a blast. Let us know how it goes. Order some of this as well. It’s the quietest I’ve found so far. I just ordered 5 boxes of the 147 gr, although it looks like it’s out of stock again now. I’ve heard the 165 is even quieter, although I haven’t tried it.

OCL makes a great can at affordable prices. Everyone I know who owns a lithium loves it.
