Show off your Every Day Carry!

Hi,

The Saint Victor 8.5" 9mm pistol uses a brace. I suppose it could be SBR'd with the proper paperwork, in the proper state. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
The KUNA's brace feels a bit short to me. Nature of the beast, I guess. The Saint Victor has very good reviews. When I was working the Colt SMG was what we had, I never liked it. I still don't know what attracted me to the KUNA, but I'm glad I bought it. If you decide on the Saint Victor I would appreciate hearing about it.

Yes it can

Reach out and touch someone. I got this 6yrs ago for $1,700 out the door. It's the loaded model. Took me over 25yrs put family first. Between the wood stock and the plastic one there isn't much of a weight difference and I like the walnut stock better
I did Basic Training with the M-14 and that was one accurate rifle. I shot expert with mine. Truth be told I'm glad I didn't have to carry it Viet Nam. Not the rifle itself, but weight of the ammunition plus the rifle was too much,

LOL. My uncle served in Korea. He told me that his assigned weapon was a BAR. It was assigned to him as the "new guy" in the unit. No one wanted to carry it because of its weight and the weight of the accompanying load out, so whoever came in as the "new guy" got it. I dunno, but considering the high octane firepower, I might've found that extra weight pretty comforting when I was in my young years. Not so much any more.

Oh well, I was just curious. I just switched up my EDC after years so was wondering how long people stay with a favorite carry.
And again, I'm late on this thread. But.... To answer this question: It took me a lot of trial and error to decide on my preferred "primary" guns. I still "switch 'em up" from time to time when I encounter something I think might be worthwhile to try, but I have pretty much settled on a pair of 1911's when the weather is cooler and I don't perspire so much that it induces them to corrode (note to self: This is a very good excuse to buy myself a pair of stainless 1911s). In warmer times or when I'm working outside and don't want my beautiful 1911s to get dinged up, it's a brace of Glock 19s. So, at a minimum, I'll switch twice yearly as the seasons change.

I also had to experiment a bit with my pocket carry. I finally landed on the S&W 642 in DeSantis Nemisis pocket holster. For the following reasons, I've never even been tempted to switch. The 642 takes the abuse of pocket carry and shrugs it off. Periodically when I go to the range and it is time to rotate my carry ammo, I'll just pull it out and empty the cylinder in an "Would I be dead if I were in a situation where I had to actually defend myself with it" exercise. The gun has never failed and the ammo (Hornady Critical Defense 110gr FTX +P) has never failed. In addition, the Nemesis holster just molds itself snugly around the gun, securing it in a way that keeps it upright in my pocket and positioned exactly where it should be. The holster also breaks up the outline of the pistol so that even a fairly sharp observer cannot discern that the outline is a gun rather than a wallet. My wallet lives in the opposite pocket, so my blue jeans don't look "unbalanced" and call attention to my pocket piece.

I go through stages with my carry guns. I went through a Doc Holliday phase where I carried two or three Peacemakers. Then a PDW phase Flux, VZ61, etc, even carried a short pistol gripped M203---it helps being retired and working in a gun shop

don't want my beautiful 1911s to get dinged up
I dont want my guns to get Fd up either, but I also realize they are tools and tools get used and tools show wear. I dont intentionally drag them across the road; but Im not afraid of honest wear. If carrying them or even using them in self defense gets them scratched, those are love marks, just like the buckle rash on the back of my Gibson guitar. Everyone says they want a virgin; but experience is always appreciated when things matter

Hi,

I had the same idea. I got my 1911 Loaded for wilderness and now considering the EMP. But I'm in CA and can only get the 3 inch barrel, I really want a 4. Which one do you have a 3 or 4?

Welcome to the forum from the Wild Wild Upper Midwest! Before I escaped California I carried the original XD9 4" Service model. I still have it, great gun. I upgraded the sights to tritium SpeedSights. I used to train in the San Bernardino mountains at Lytle Creek.

The CA roster has gotten a little more generous, but it still kinda sucks. But I'm glad you joined us.

Thank you for your indulgence,
