I've Had My Fill - Looking For Recommendations

Model 457

Custom
I've had it with Portland. I'm going to relocate. Southern Idaho, Utah, and Oklahoma are my prime target locations thus far. I'm not keen on harsh weather nor am I thrilled about tornadoes even though I see those possibilities with the locations I am considering.

I'm looking for solid Red with strong 2A mindsets.

Feedback and other potential considerations will be greatly appreciated.

My entire life has been lived in SoCal, NorCal, and the PNW to give you some insight into how I am acclimated.

Thank you for your wisdom.

How come nobody ever picks Arkysaw? :( You get used to the Banjo music.
I am looking for the sales pitch from people that live in these far away exotic lands. I hadn't ruled Arkansas out. It just wasn't on my "serious consideration" list, yet. All I need is a convenient airport within a reasonable commute and great high speed internet at home to do my job.

****, if you and I were neighbors...... I shudder at the thought 🤪

We is a red state, just an example, not far from me is a statue of Robert E lee. How long you think that statue would last in a blue state? been there many years. our governer is Sarah Huckabee. she done away with all the woke crap the blue hairs were trying to do. we have little restrictions here on anything. we have a big airport and good internet.

We have good hunting and fishing.

I'd be the best neighbor you ever had, i'd have yer back and watch yer place when you was gone. we look out for each other here.
Same here. I was thinking more long the lines that all too often you and I are typing the same response to stuff at the same time. Think about how many times I've had to tell you to get out of my head. I'm pretty sure we're kin somewhere upstream. If we were neighbors? All I can say is God bless our neighborhood!

I'm looking at Wyoming myself.
Have looked at Oklahoma and parts of Arizona as well. Getting older I kinda like warm
Here in Nevada we're just one communist God'vernor away from being totally blue.
Wyoming was originally at the top of my list. But man they have long and harsh winters from what I've read. Outside of all of the Mormons, Utah is my frontrunner at the moment. Although it would be a kick to be @Belt Fed's neighbor!

Come to Alabama, we have a state saying “it’s not to terrible here”
I was deployed to Louisiana and shortly thereafter to Florida, then to Southern Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina disaster relief. I have been deployed to wild fires in SoCal, earthquakes in other countries, and to volcanic eruptions. I have never seen destruction like I witnessed with Katrina. So I'm concerned about tornadoes, hurricanes, and extended harsh weather be it heat or cold. I seriously am looking for input from people. I'm too damn old to make a mistake with this decision. But I must admit "It's not terrible here" sounds pretty damn honest.

When I stop working for the 3rd time ;I retired twice but so a job now that pays decent but no retirement ither tjan SS points)

I am considering Arizona. Warmer weather than I Diana and oretty compatible 2A freedoms

Lives in Arkansas and that’s a cool state but too humid and mosquitoes are the state bird. Montana beautiful but cold

I’m within 2 years from 60 and very anti cold these days

I'd be looking at the gray states. But Texas, and I'm a native Texan, is turning into a black eye, all purple. TN is good in the east, Knoxville to Chattanooga corridor and surrounds, but bad around Nashville and BAD around Memphis. That would be high on my list if I ever had to leave Texas. I'd first be looking at the gray states and second step states here: https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/states-without-an-income-tax/

I was stationed in Utah and it was a great place. I was in Ogden and it had all 4 seasons and people were friendly and didn't bother you. That said don't know how it is now. With time everything changes.

Don’t come to NJ…
I all seriousness, I feel what you’re going through. I can’t wait to leave the place where i was born and raised. That’s just plain sad. Aside from the 2A issues, I could not afford to retire in NJ because of the tax structure. I have no choice to leave within 10 years. Maybe i’ll go to Arkysaw….

West Virginia is supposedly the next “it” state to move to. Tax friendly, especially for retirees, decent climate, beautiful outdoors, and certainly pro-2A.
