good day at the range

well, it was Beretta day at the range...50 rounds my reloads, 50 rounds Fiocchi new.

8 yards away

as i spoke of many months ago, Beretta is "combat gun" as such has "combat sights" much like Glocks.

as such, mostly more so with my Beretta, i have to hold the front sight ABOVE the red dot, rather than below it.

i always forget this so the first few shots are always off from center.

I think you got him! I need to get my Italian 92FS out one of these days. Still NIB and haven't shot it yet.

12 gauge or 20 gauge? 😁

Thanks for sharing your fun with us. It looks like I'm not going to make it to the range this week, too much other stuff going on. We'll see. I'd say your reloads are just as accurate as the factory blend. Nice work on the targets.

I think I've mentioned before that I have a similar issue when I pull out a gun I haven't shot for a while. I tend to forget the peculiarities for that particular firearm, trigger weight, finger position, POA, POI, sight picture, how much six o'clock hold (if any), etc, etc. It doesnt' take long for it to come back to you. It usually takes me longer. :p I suppose if I was just more consistent in general then it wouldn't matter as much.

I haven't decided on what my next firearm purchase will be, but I've been looking a lot at the Baretta 92 series. Something about that naked barrel speaks to me. ;) I think I can fit one more pistol into my safe before I have to buy a bigger safe.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

2 things...

i had 2 Beretta 92 FS's...

the one made in Italy, black one

and the satin steel american one.

i dumped the American made

i was having issues shooting them BOTH this one time, many months ago, and i could not figure out why, as i had always had a great day with either one...

but that one day, i just could NOT hit the side of a barn..

bad day..???? loss of focus on my concentration....???

i think YES on both.

so i cleaned up the American Beretta, and dumped it.

i read up on the Beretta, and found that it is a "combat gun"...with "combat sights", and one must aim higher, than where you want the holes punched...

but why so many previous times...no issues..>???

see possible reasons above.

i can shoot ANY of my Glocks......also "combat guns"...with "combat sights"........hhmm,,,,,,,,,

i just forget to remember to "aim higher" above the bulls eye, each time i take my Beretta.

and until i recall that, i use up several shots.

they are very good guns, quality, build, price wise, i plan on keeping the Italian made one.

which brings me to a point i made a few days ago....

i reduced my stable down to 19 guns, from 50....

i want to shoot all of them very well, and having way too many, that can be a difficult task.

yes you told me way back then, that YOU know i can do it, from previous targets YOU have seen..it all goes to the "combat sights", compared to regular iron sights.

another thing, the RSO showed me his new carry gun...

the HN Reflex..???

someone here had an issue months back with his..??

anyway..brand new gun...front sight took a vacation trip on him.

he called FN, SEVERAL times, got no answer.

when he called one more time, a humanoid answered.

that guy claimed that FN took on other gun company's repairs...??

like Remington and a couple of others..?????

that's why the phone system was done or just not working right.

anyway, a new front sight to be sent to him..........

Not bad shooting! Looks good

I had issue with the Reflex. Trigger was way too light for me.
yeah thanks...i forgot who it was...and YES, the guy at the range who has one, let me take a shot....God dammmed.....that IS a very light trigger.

then the RSO let me dry fire his....God DAMMMMMMMNED...........too light for even me....

i'll take a 3 to 5 lbs trigger pull.......on nearly all the guns i have...except of course for the nearly 15 lbs trigger pull on my Ruger GP 100 revolver. in fact ALL my revolvers had at least a 15 lbs trigger pull.

I had issue with the Reflex. Trigger was way too light for me.
That’s why I bought one with a manual safety! TBH, a year ago I had an FDE model with a manual safety but moved it on as I was moving toward all metal handguns (or heavy mixed polymers). Then I realized I needed something Reflex size for summer carry sometimes and figured since the Reflex worked well for me before, it would again. So this time I got a black manual safety model. The trigger on this black one (though still seeming light) seems a bit more heavy than the one I had last year. Could be my imagination I guess, but sure seems like I now have to actually squeeze and not just barely rest my finger.

i want to shoot all of them very well, and having way too many, that can be a difficult task.
Not to mention EXPENSIVE. But what the hay, we're all either wealthy or broke gun lovers.
I've heard that the American Beretta 92FS is just as good a gun as the Italian made, but the Italian model may have a more refined finish, and some folks just like having "Made in Italy" on it. I dunno. I do know that only the Italian version has slotted grip screws.

Well, I hit the county range yesterday w/ the new scout.
Did ok I think, but not great.

Hitting around 2moa at 100 & 200 yards.
Then i reached out to some steel on the hillside.
300 yards seemed fairly easy w/ a little side wind.
Decided to try 400 & I got 4 out 5 hits on that.
That made my day! 😃

$10 per visit & only about 20 miles from home...
