Just got the phone with Best Buy trying to set an appointment for my a/v system that isn't working. Talking about a a cluster f***, pita call trying to understand a Geek Squad agent from God knows where. After talking to three different agents finally got one I could understand. Guessing Best Buy is an American company why in the hell can't I talk to someone that speaks fluent English?
The above problem was frustrating, to say the least. Best Buy Geek squad was supposed to be at my home at 2:40PM today to trouble-shoot repair my home theatre system. Got an e-mail a few minutes ago advising me they longer provide in home service. Spent about eight grand for all the components plus installation from Best Buy. Spoke to the store manager who said she was very sorry for my problem but I would have to find a local company to help me. To say I'm pi**** off is a huge understatement.

I will never purchase any extended warranty from Best Buy, we bought a 40” Toshiba tv couple years ago, bought there warranty, after a year the tv screen went out, volume but no picture, called Best Buy up and told them my issue, they told me while I do have there warranty I would have to pay them 140.00 for them to come out and diagnose the problem, I told them why in the hell did I get your warranty of if I still have to pay you to come out, told them to take a flying leap and threw the tv away, I will never buy anything from Best Buy again.

i am certainly glad you guys are speaking up about Best Buy......

now i too know not to buy there, and i won't.

in fact, i have not stepped foot in any Best Buy, since about the mid 1990's.

Our thoughts are if we are going to buy a TV, then just order it from Amazon and be done with the search for crappy service. It will ship from the nearest Best buy and the geeks will come and set up, and they test it before leaving. They're both big box stores, but I don't have to talk with anyone else but my wife.

That's exactly what I did a while back, when I bought our 100" tv. There was no way I was going to transport, bring it into the house, and try to set it up myself! The Geeks did it all. I never had to leave the house for any part of that deal, from ordering it on Amazon, to finally parking my butt into my recliner and pressing "power" on the remote.

Bought the 85" Samsung tv and all the other components from Best Buy about three years ago. They sent two Geek Squad to set it up charged me 120 bucks. Pretty sure the problem is with the A/V receiver

i haven't even considered ordering a tv from amazon.

there was a tv store not far from me, he sold NIB tv's, but were over stock items....they were still...NIB, name brands..

that man retired, recently.

now a days, i just go into the walmart store, check out what brands they have, and just buy it...today in fact, walmart has a TCL 50" for $238.99

no, i did not buy it...today.

my tv room is small, the wifes tv room is larger, so we buy according to the chart regarding tv size to room size.

right now, all tv's are fine......so no need to upgrade.

no, what i meant was...way back when you first bought the set up...was there any "extended contracts" for in-home service, beyond what ends from the first day of purchase..???

sorta like a "rolling service contract", year after year, after year.....???

Sears did just that....i know, for us it was cost effective with 5 kids.

No Best Buy didn't offer a service contract but the major problem is they don't provide in home service for Home theatre
systems. The manager told me they lost several Geek Squad agents due to cost savings cuts. They probably do have home service on appliances. Purchased a pretty expensive refrigerator a little over a year ago and it is covered for repair/replacement for 4 years.
