My take, as long as your satisfied with the gun, does it actually mean anything that it came dirty….I mean you cleaned it, shot it and liked it, no issues firing it, I consider it a win.

I've bought new guns before that were covered in crud .... And used ones that looked like they had never been shot

My first new 5" Wilson Combat EDC X9 Experior was the dirtiest gun I ever bought new. The included target had 6 shots. My "used" 4.25" was spotless with a 3 round target.

My first step with any of them is a good clean and lube upon arrival at home

I completely agree the purchase was a complete win for me. After letting it simmer off and on for a few days I guess I just wanted to be a little whiny.
