Yes OF Course the law is the law and it applies equally; but I think you miss the point. As you say Open Carry is stupid, so by extension open carry of an AR is double or triple stupid. Its the OPTICS and optics can change everything. A AR15 isnt an ASSAULT Rifle by definition; but the left started calling them that and look where we are now. The OPTICS of the video are a terrible example for the open carry debate. Any supporters it may win are grossly off set by the ones we'd lose

I must be blind or stupid. I've reread every post, twice, and see nothing like that here. What am I missing? Maybe someone I have ignored?
 
Open carry is isn't stupid. We've been conditioned to think it is.
Open carry is just another way to carry, and everyone should carry.
If open carry was more common, no one would even think about it.

I LOVE open carry. It's 100% legal where I live and unfortunately, not very common.

I get very happy when I see someone open carrying, because I know there's at least one other good guy around.

Its culturally a mistake. Theres legal and then....well just out of place. It LEGAL to stand naked inside your glass front door and rub your junk across from a school buss stop; but not something you ought to contemplate.

Of all the folks Ive seen open carrying, none were ones I ever felt an urge to associate with or even spend anytime chatting.

Theres a reason guys dont do it. It tells bad guys who to shoot first and who to use as a resupply point

I don’t see the relationship here? Because someone open carries in a state where it’s legal you assume they’re a good guy? Why? Why couldn’t they just be a thug? I honestly don’t care if someone open carries or not. I do on the farm and when hunting. I don’t do so when I’m going to town for the same reason I never wore a uniform off duty when I was a firefighter. You walk in on an armed robbery in uniform (ANY uniform) or open carrying you’re asking to be the first guy shot. I’ll pass thanks. You do you, but be careful. Dudes like the clown with the slung rifle are doing the same thing as the clown in a Tesla truck or the straight piped bik “Hey look at me”. I prefer being the grey man nobody notices.

I recall hearing a story about a guy in Florida that had just bought his pistol and was open carrying when shopping (WalMart I think), when he went to the rest room and while he was busy staring at the wall, someone came from behind put a gun in his back and stole the pistol.....it wouldnt have happened if he was carrying concealed BECAUSE no one would have known he was armed.

This is the whole point against open carry for most of the mooks out there. Most people who do open carry have no situational awareness, don't have the proper holster for open carry, and most are not capable enough in hand to hand to be able to fight off a bad guy trying to strip them of their firearm. If these criminals have no problem fighting an ARMED officer for their handgun, what makes people think they are immune to this? And do these people honestly think that just because they are openly carrying a firearm, that that is going to scare the bad guys? If you are going to open carry in public, you had better be off your phone and head on a swivel, AND you had better damned well be ready to fight off a thug who WILL be trying to strip you of your firearm. Otherwise, conceal carry and get over yourself and your ego. Nobody thinks you are special or cool because you are open carrying. There is a time and place for open carry. I prefer not to announce to the world that I am carrying. But, you do you.

I dont think there should be a government mandated qualification course but I do think if you are going to carry that you know your abilities. I dont want to be in the store thats getting robbed and worry about the guy with the Uncle Mikes holster for his Hi Point starting a shoot out (and missing)

I am not against open carry, per say. I just have seen too many videos of people who are totally oblivious to their surroundings getting stripped of their firearm while in line or browsing in a store and some getting killed with their own firearm to think that some people are responsible enough to do so. Maybe 30, 40, 50 years ago when people didn't have the distractions like they do today. It's bad enough that the criminals are getting their firearms out of vehicles where the guns are not properly stored and secured. I don't do it, I prefer concealed. But that is me.

Becuase thungs don't open carry. They tuck it in their waistband under a tshirt or hoodie
You can instantly spot if a open carry guy is a good guy
 
A lot of you are making this out to be a bigger issue than it really is. Has it turned into the wild, wild west where open carry is allowed? If you willingly allow the government to take just a little bit of your freedom, do you think that is where they will stop? For the sky is falling folks, seeing someone open carrying could be your sign to stay away from them if they are nothing but trouble. Never mind the punk wearing a hoodie when its 98 degrees outside. Or with his pants hanging off his behind. They're not open carrying, so they should be safe, right? If your state allows open carry and you don't believe in it, then don't open carry yourself. Here's a thought. If you see someone open carrying and you are worried, just avoid them. Or mind your own business. I mean you must surely be concealed carrying yourself, so you shouldn't fear for anything, right? Open carry is not the end of the world. That comes once the government takes all your gun rights.

Open carry doesnt bother me one bit.
I laugh at the idiots who do so with no thought about why or how they open carry with improper equipment and lack of situational awareness.
Notice holsters that people wear who are in the professions of wearing a gun all day. The equipment is designed that way for a reason

And I sometimes wonder about people who are concealed carrying, whether legal or not, that have any business carrying a firearm at all. A lot of idiots out there.

YES

As Ive said, Id love a world were people OPEN Carried; but it that world I want that world to be where people were responsible (so now Ill go back to waiting for Stevie Nicks and a jar of pickles). On the few occasions that I do see someone open carrying OR if their shirt pulled up; I take note of the gun and the holster. On the rare occasion that its a good set up, I mentally nod at the quality choices. Sadly most of the time its a Keltec in an Uncle Mikes and THAT sets the tone.
