Think NASCAR is about dead……

Nothing disappointed me more than when I saw my first NASCAR up close and realized it wasnt really a STOCK Car, as in WTF? Why call it stock car if its not a real car?

The rules and regs are ridiculous. My dad was a huge Elliot fan and would get on his soap box about the good ole days, before restrictor plates, when Awesome Bill ran down Chevy’s at Talladega. Unbelievable that Drivers now complain that there is too much speed at the super speedways.🙄
The loss of Rowdy was huge. He will be missed but his legacy will carry on. My wife follows Brexton on social media. We will keep up with his career.
 
Funny story:
When dad was still alive, he was a big Nascar fan. Went to Daytona and Tx Motor Speedway for decades.
Huge fan of Jeff Gordon. We were at the infield/pit row before the race and Gordon was signing autographs. Dad tried to get his attention to no luck. He was about 70 at the time and wearing a gordon hat and shirt.
I told dad I’ll get him and autograph and led us over to post up next to a hot blonde and her man.
Explained to them dads predicatment and offered to buy them beers/lunch if she would get Jeff over for an autograph. She lowered her shirt, showed a lot of cleavage let out huge whistle and Jeffs name. He came over and she asked him to sign “her dads” hat and took dads hat off. He signed it promptly and shook dads hand and got a photo with him/dad. Dad smiled for a month after that.
The couple enjoyed a great lunch and we all had a great time.
 
Growing up my mother's side of the family was big into NASCAR and I always enjoyed it. We were all huge Dale Earnhardt fans. I still remember what I was doing when I was told Dale Earnhardt died. It's just never been the same since.

I will say I've enjoyed watching some of Cleetus McFarland and Squirrel McNutt racing in ARCA etc. That's been top tier youtube lately.

After Scott Kalitta was killed during qualifying in 2008 they went to 1000ft. for top fuel an funny cars. As the tf and fc got faster they need more shut down area and alot of tracks couldn't afford to add more shut down area so with racing 1000 ft they have a extra 320 ft. to slow down and almost all the teams were in favor of it. All the other classes still run the 1/4 mile. Besides being safer on the shorter track its saves alot on parts. most don't realize that on a tf and fc the strain on the engine and clutch, and rear end parts etc. is unimaginable. In a race From the time you stomp the gas peddle and the injector plates open till you let off at the end of race, plates closed, the engine doesn,t turn over 800 revolutions and its toast. the rev limiter is set to 9500 r.p.m. but most dont turn them that high. Just for an example 9500 rpm, divided by 60 seconds ina minute = 158.3 rpm per second X a slow 4 second run = 633.3 and the engine is toast.
