Ayoob: Is .45 Still Better Than 9mm?

I am shocked at the number of cops that do absolutely wild, magazine dumps. If the folks in uniform are that scared, why did they choose that career?
We didn't do it to get shot at...
That said, it was always after when the knees go weak to some. Don't ask how I know and was based on age at the time of the incident. But asked how many rounds did you fire, the answer is often 3 or 4, with a half empty mag.
Being from the old revolver days we had to count, as the cylinder and two speed loaders (18 rounds) was all we had... The last plastic .45 ACP acquired, carries 15 in the Mag, so a few extra for good measure is available... I think the 9mm, mag is endless.

Working as an Armed Security Officer, I carried a 6" e Colt Trooper MkIII for a few years. 18 rounds were all we had. I later qualified and moved up to a Glock Model 20. (Yes, I secretly carried a blackjack). The OC spray worked most of the time, but you always needed a backup too when deescalation didn't work.

Don't they know that .32 ACP is the one true caliber:

Caliber debates to me are pointless. It really comes down to what you are more comfortable shooting, and what you are going to grab when something goes bump in the night.

Are you going to grab the pistol if a few steps away is the shottie or AR? Are you carrying, is the boat anchor weight of an all steel frame going to make you hitch at your holster? and opt for a poly frame gun? There's so many different variables and situations that, to me it often turns into a three whiskey debate where people talk round and round, reaffirming what they believe and it quickly delves into insults like: you don't need follow up shots, round count is too low, blah blah blah.

I understand the debate, but honestly I don't see the point, sort of like Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge. (now I know I pissed off some people **Toyota owners angrily muttering in the background)

That's why for home defense I like to use the PaK 40.
