More magazine capacity

The information I posted was from the Internet and allegedly reported by the military. My BIL was in logistics during the first sandbox fighting in Iraq, reported higher consumption than Vietnam. Military sources claim the ratio was nearly 250k per casualty in the sandbox battles. What is the truth? I dunno.....

It’s just hard to imagine that no one gets hit while 250,000 rounds are coming down range at them 🤔, I mean it would be raining bullets.

The total number of rounds expended is misleading. Accounting for training ammo, ammo given to allies, ammo expended in recon by fire, ammo fired from miniguns, only a small percentage of the total is fired by troops in contact with the enemy.
 
How it was calculated and totaled is not mentioned. Nor is what was included i.e. training, or anything else.

How I interpret the information, is troops apparently can't shoot and our training is lacking and getting worse. Or. The adversaries are adapting to our methods and we aren't adaptive to them.

I don't know which is the case, but I am very well aware that cops have too think like criminals in order to catch them.
 
I suspect that some egg head took the number of all small arms ammo sent to Vietnam, divided it by the number of confirmed kills and ended up with X number of rounds for Y number of kills. He likely got paid handsomely/promoted and the DOD budget kept growing. Not against spending tax $ on defense or our soldiers but spending tax $ on B.S. "studies" rubs my fur the wrong way.

Individual marksmanship skills are *an* issue , but far from a big one .

Most small arms rounds are Not used for a specific shooter to hit a specific enemy .

Supressive fire , area denial fire , firing on vehicles , aircraft , enemy cover , material things generally .

Added - In these such numbers , the criteria is *per kill * . Hit , but ultimately not fatal , is much larger number , and frequently removes the opponent from the fight at the time , and can tie up opponent resources in treating and evacuating them .

This smacks of overbilling. Literally impossible. Quarter of a million rounds for one kill. LOL no.

Then what is the accurate count?
This is the information found, if you have something different, please share your information and citations.

It may very well be over billing, but with the limited amount of information given, how are the American people supposed to know or learn the truth?
