Belle, about 1.5 years ago I developed some arthritis in my shooting hand and had the same palm pain with the squared off grip. Before the pain started it was my most carried pistol in my rotation. I added a Hogue grip cover and made it much more tolerable. It's back in my EDC rotation. As much as I loved customizing my Echelon, it hurts my hand after a couple magazines. My favorite Springfields are my XDM Elite, XD9 Mod 2 and the Mod 3. For whatever reason, the shape of the grip of both the Hellcat and the Echelon are more squared (for lack of a better way to put it) and after firing a couple of mags down range, both guns hurt the bone in my palm. Needless to say they don’t get as much range time as they used to, as I’m not that “into” pain.
The XDs fit me better and they handle very well.![]()
My XD Mod.3 grip feels great, shoots great & is probably my most accurate of all my pistols. It's just a little too big for CCW for my likes & comfort during nice weather as I seem to print too easily.
Never held or fired an Echelon but if I did I'd probably put a Hogue grip cover on it also if I liked it enough.
