FNX™-45 Tactical Opinions Wanted

Seriously thinking of making this my next "house gun/bedroom gun". I would add a dedicated suppressor to it. Since this gun would not be an EDC and never leave the house, I'm considering to "not" put a red/green dot optic on it. I'm thinking the tritium night sights that come with it should suffice for inside home defense. But if I break down on the optic thing, I would probably put a Holosun green dot on it. Deep down, I've always been a .45 guy. And I already have thousands of .45 rounds stored away because of the other .45s I own. What other makes or thoughts do you have for a full size .45 that is suppressor ready? Thanks in advance.

I’ve been thinking the same thing.
I’m going to go the route of a Sig 220 of some sort. Probably a 220 Legion ish pistol …

Either HK or FN for .45
I lean towards the HK for ergo’s on the HK45. @SimonRL owns both.

He’ll chime in for sure on comparison

Full size, suppressor ready?

USP 45 Tactical all day long. It’s a bit pricey, but it is a tank. One of the best guns on the market, bar none.

I have the HK.45 and it is ok, but pales next to the USP. I also have the FN 545 Tactical, which is a great gun if you’re ok with striker fired. Its big bonus is an 18+1 capability. Comes with tritium night sights and has a fantastic optic mounting system that will take literally anything. It is easy to shoot and extremely accurate. The 545 Tactical is massively underrated and is an outstanding home defense gun.

If you really want to make an impression go for the HK Mk 23. With a suppressor mounted it is about the length of a baseball bat! If you miss with it - which you won’t - you can bludgeon the bad guy with it without having to get close!

I'm actually looking at the FNX-45 Tactical, which is hammer fired. But I will for sure look into the HK lineup. Thanks for the insight!

Well, I'm no Pistol Pete, looking to start a firefight in my bedroom! lol I'm hoping all it will take is less than one magazine's capacity to end any hostilities while in my evening attire! I don't think I'll have the time or a way to carry spare magazines to my slumber party fire fight. Pistol Pete's experiences may vary.

I feel confident that Pistol Pete has an entire tactical boudoir for such occasions - hence the “force on force” training.

I am not a fan of FN and I have not ever shot a .45 but I like the direction you're headed. I've not made any strides myself towards introducing myself to .45 or 10MM but I do see a lot of content on 1911s. My thought process, for my situation at least, I usually have both of my 9MM, my 5.56 and my 12GA staged in strategic locations in my bedroom at night while I am sleeping. During the day I am wearing my P01 while my BD is staged on my dresser but my 5.56 and 12GA are still near enough to me while in my office that I have to pass both of them to exit my office and can grab either one on the way to deal with anything happening out in the rest of the house. I often wonder which one I would choose to grab in a situation that might call for one of them. Lots to consider, mainly over penetration and collateral damage. My plan, in the event I have to defend my home from an intruder is to aim for their thigh or knee and get them down on the floor then stand over them and put two more to finish them off while they have a concrete slab under them to stop the rounds hopefully. I do sometimes wonder if the projectile would ricochet and come back at me and in that case I consider the angle at which I'm presenting the firearm and considering that trajectory. I just hope I do not freeze up with indecision in that moment where my life is in the balance. I was recently perusing the Tanfoglio Witness P


of the IFG (Italian Firearms Group) 10MM which is the closest thing to a 10MM CZ75 pistol that I can find currently. I have not had my hands on one yet to confirm the CZ75 ergonomics but the ai seems think it is the closest non CZ made as a CZ style in 10MM/.45 cal. This one is all steal. This is the Tanfoglio Defiant Combat F

What feature/s influence/s that decision? The FN over the HK. I could not find an FN with a favorable grip angle when I was shopping for my first gun. That is the last time I had any FN guns in hand.
