Friends and neighbors,

I had a pretty good day at the older facility. There's some new banners out front. The FAM is the Fletcher Arms Membership. It's a good deal and a nice community to belong to.

AP1GczOSZpxOu_6GtrGiJyBuinorsVfdoOjkJcEbMrqRkcwNV33icUBgWZJT2ekZMje7vNodRjR0Rvezy1QmDF0jpqtgjztt7GBacF7FcEy9OuuDPcYmz69oq1QftNAeVvI9xbtZJJfVW17odzyvBBeCL380wg=w1651-h929-s-no

When I arrived, the parking lot was full. Strange. Turns out the range itself wasn't that busy so, believe it or not, I was able to procure my favorite lane, #10. Whooda thunk it?

AP1GczMde8_GAIwLiOgaJqqZXBHxhFMKLcOCCzGnoKK8Bpz4kUGuXetiiXIgenQfwyBKcPDgP5clewSLQzsB2q-jroQZvpLxLp9L_PMSo4mrHuGp4FO5KZUwLaRlYpBlTHnjKbPiX_zrsCA3h16eg-GH2-xjmw=w1651-h929-s-no

Today I was practicing with the XDM Elite 4.5 OSP 10mm and XD9 Mod.3 w/Holosun 507C, Freedom 180 grain 10mm ammo and PPU 124 grain 9mm ammo. I'll put 100 rounds through each pistol.

AP1GczOueivTtVghVoMHOWW4dX5FLikXallFuKZ9HSwrAZrtriets7kRJXnIu8AQ5ZtEWfEbKxDGMATIZ7UqCMB3-wyJq85K9kxJ7RrMswiUW9BwTbXv_UzWBPlTDjftBZDJxhv0ymPf64_lwPbfd4B7TNSBHQ=w1651-h929-s-no

I started with the XDM 10mm, my usual B-8 target at 10 yards. I did not use my special glasses for the first couple of targets (using a clear lens instead of the bifocal on the top of the lens over my right eye). My front sight was very fuzzy but that's how I would have to shoot in a self defense situation. At least the fiber optic front sight helped. Here's target #1 with a full 15 round magazine.

AP1GczNnJ-y6b-mbkPInZmqowUoB3Jpi3oxKHkW6fx0dXs8Pz5JryBcUpMJTq3SGbCJdr_aq8Y5WOQ0XV9Otw7UDsoLbxv9Tv_9z8Vzl8Z4B0FYlZZ_WOHvLVj7vBGgqgRj1KRjPB0K_6fSNW7B0u1x_spK_SQ=w1651-h929-s-no

One of these days I'll keep them all in the black. That's my goal for this new 10mm pistol, always working toward consistency. Here's target #2 with 15 rounds.

AP1GczNCZ-UX9tf4YjWBR7zPUmf9HcWpOkKdL8kpvBw3eWOXIBhjK5sj5pBY5VxhW7dokTajD-r3aTjcWiB3AyqgFo_z23gD2MKcc27xaHXiwF02NM1ciFWC8xQXvhLzYvt2hLUl7kemb4UYxgKnnBBiJ_HOCA=w1651-h929-s-no

N/G means "no glasses". This one had more hits in the 10 ring but also more outside the black. I'll put on my special shooting glasses for the next couple of targets. Let's see if I can be more consistent when I can see the front sight clearly. Here's target #3.

AP1GczNHCGO7Jz5cXwM5NyOmoOvqKnVe6wsjpxquO7Zm3tuGkTErGSZk1QS9X59KXpnFwkkML4ylVqNlFoOifIqGCPYY1mW_-MdtF5HePRrmU20GgPqbwCtTDyKcCMnsgbRIRlvx17oFcgSIM314KEW1ejHgHg=w1651-h929-s-no

Meh, still three out of the black. OK, here's the last 10 rounds from this box on target #4.

AP1GczMMPfDG36ELYtLyJyx_iMGYTPjn13lDsg4KT6cFe3IUJhZlWrT8Yh11Tse3I-PVL9xDgIqgxpnbm5-ibOj_-g8byMDEmnvez9oLyIE4godOvHrQaG56ecaPFsgMZZM2pIRCZ9YOHplJSF30gYOu1q0RjA=w1651-h929-s-no

Yick, sorry my printer didn't do such a good job on this batch of targets. There's only two out of the black on this target but fewer in the 10 ring. Let's take a break from the 10mm and have some fun with my optic on the Mod.3.

AP1GczNV4fXlKE88BhbpF2lZAGvLtlZGNrVv8QV-RuJBe2k43_-SHZkYd3cxMcfh6-JxSijbTAsj8QSMWqRm05Gt0gEsWnk0C5eumjTXHVvQcH0Zr_r93GT4fIXqVz8gxL-DXzb0W7gUiPrviMPLknqf1cK0mA=w1651-h929-s-no

The next target is a little better. I'm trying to get the dot on the optic "right there" when I present. It's getting better.

AP1GczM4CLyHnM551VjRwguhL4F2T9tzW0WA5GHH6Ov940qt1fiBvmMZgSfXM1kAfk_FrbHI1Sw_v2WbeeQDv6xz6keV0MJISXYEKkOIz_vmeBs-VgpLRW47ocSOJB0b4jRANclFHP0aVldp1k8A80MPRgXSmw=w1651-h929-s-no

I figured if I used a shoot-n-see target I would have to shape up, because everyone on the range could see my hits.

AP1GczMf89UFM5KjquSh3bosZEmz_rG6NaEHbNBoW268xvXdi81fH2HQX4FHY_vU0rGnQLpejKdfHaT-ui5nvTf7hrsM-mGFrVyH3XYAQedW-5cbXxjH-86usEanm0VMBUfCgtPQW4uhiC3dE3ggvIbDRkEdXA=w1651-h929-s-no

I guess that wasn't too bad so I'm going to patch up this target and put 20 hits on it.

AP1GczOHLfzs21ItOV-GkKf86LeqcwKt9Opv88_HLIBboJIyNFJNyAxoKwxkauCnVe2Hio_7xK8D5JT3053ydzWIiyALek2g6RpnDwrA-dIwtIhtWbrvW3HsFkX7ng1kN8QSb68nKWydsqekmHD0jpwOjRyhpA=w1651-h929-s-no

Now I'll put my special lens back on and put 50 rounds on my favorite target with the XDM 10mm. It's starting to get really fun to shoot this pistol.

AP1GczMDZr7hidPMOXMyZSxZUsbHHMVU2SglmD5zc2dY2y8-GJiAdfCRna_dst2QuBZjKyPyOC11iCeByr0vUc_ZAkpp0_LcZHnSgJVjAytIihSHv2EWI1gT_UfiLcCO35fyloR-pZwsQfBJkOoAmFRXlTKrgQ=w1651-h929-s-no

My goal for this target has always been to keep all the hits inside the 9 ring. If you gimme a couple of line breaks, there's only one hit on the outside. I kinda like the way this target is looking, a few hits touching, a bit of a raggedy hole. Not to toot my own horn, but the guy in the lane next to me said "Wow, you don't miss." I thanked him for his kind words and decided to take another glam shot.

Now I'm going to try the same thing, 50 rounds using the XD9 Mod.3. I'll practice presentation with the dot, firing quickly for the first 10 rounds, followed by double taps and triple taps. The last 10 rounds from this box will go toward the head.

Well, some of my quick hits from low ready were a bit low. The double and triple taps were a bit more on target. I missed one of my head shots, putting seven of ten hits inside the 3" bullseye. All in all, not too terrible for an old geezer with bad eyes. Oh, wait, glam shot? Sure.

improving with trigger time on the 10mm as that brand of ammo isn't that great. try armscor 180gr in the 10 or ppu 165's as i've found those to be decent for range ammo on the pistols i've shot. both have been thru the 1 xdm i have (5.25") including glock and m/p's. i haven't tried the ppu in the kimber yet or either in the 320's. getting more of a vertical string which to me is better than horizontal. looking forward to more reports!

I apprecite the ammo recommendation. I buy a lot of Freedom/LAX because it's good practice ammo for the price. Like all my pistols, it's as accurate as I am. ;) But the next time I see a box or two in the store I'll give it a try, see if it makes a difference in my mediocrity.

I do plan on getting a threaded barrel replacement for the XDME 10mm. I've seen the drop-in barrel for around $100. I'm saving my gig money for extra mags and a barrel. I believe the replacement threaded barrel is about 5.25"

Once I get some extra 16 round magazines I'll be able to fit the magwell. That extra purchase for my pinkie might help too. :D

Hi guys,

looks like a good time

Indeed! It's always a good time. It's even more fun when I can get hits close to the middle. :p

Looks fine to me

You are very kind. Taming this new 10mm beast is a bit of a challenge for me. I think I'll take it to the practice range a couple more times before giving it a rest. My 9's and 45's are starting to get jealous.

I found out my current XDM holsters fit the 10mm too. It makes me think I'll want to use it in one of my training classes, just for fun.

Thank you for your indulgence,

What i bought the 40s&w xdm 5.25 it came with a holster. Not long after I bought the 10mm xdm in the same length and what was nice about the 2 is they can use the same holster. Glock 20 and 21 is the same way but 40 and 41 isn't due to slide dimensions. However the 41 share holsters with 17, 22 & 31 regardless of the .81" difference

Occasionally I like to train with something other than my regular carry rotation. It's good the holsters work cross-platform, saves a little $$. The three 1911 pistols in my little collection can all use the same.

I'm just curious, how many 10mm pistols do you own? Once the infatuation is over, I'm not sure how much I'll be shooting mine. It's twice as expensive to feed as the 9mm units, and more expensive than my 45s. Shucks, I might have to start reloading. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

Hi,

Holy long post batman, you is da master. also good chootin there too agent

Well, the forum allows only 20 linked pictures per post, so I have to show some restraint.

I appreciate the encouragement. I'm starting to get the hang of that new 10mm. Once I get the right magazines to fit the magwell, maybe we'll see an improvement. Maybe. I hope. :p

Hi,

I have more in 357sig and 45acp is coming close. I have not much more in 40s&w (5) than 9x19's (3) which isn't much.

I have no 40S&W, no 357Sig, but plenty of 9mm and four .45ACP units, plus 22LR, 5.56, 7.62, .357 Magnum, 12ga, and the 10mm. I'm already stocking too many different calibers. Then again, maybe I'm just lazy. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
