    165 Grain 40 S&W Is It Dead?

That is a pretty interesting table. -I’d like to see the actual numbers because I’m guessing there is a big drop after the top ten. -I never thought I’d see .380 as high as third. -I seldom see anyone shooting 5.7x28, but there it is at #8, ahead of .40. -Who in the hell is buying all the...

The S&W model 76 sub machine gun

My second subgun. I planned on getting a suppressor for it right away. Yep, gonna get right on that. It’s now over 25 years later I still haven’t done it. Jerry is impressed with the workmanship? Wow. S&W did a lot, maybe most, of their caseless ammo experimenting with modified 76s. They...

Adding a revolver to the mix

A classic. I’ve heard that little feud is what led to Ruger marking their guns “.40 Auto” instead of “.40 S&W”.

Adding a revolver to the mix

I remember Elmer Keith saying similar in an article. At the time, the only .44 Mag from S&W was the Model 29; and from Ruger, the Super Blackhawk. He said that although the Ruger was thicker and wider in the top strap, and had more steel in the cylinder, the S&W 29 was the stronger gun...

Adding a revolver to the mix

I shot a 692 with a 9mm cylinder in place at RevolverFest two weeks ago. It was nice. All of the Taurus revolvers present on demo day were nice. People were buzzing about the 66C. I have never owned a Taurus before, but I would buy something they make now. Tops of my list are the 692 and...

What are you doing right now??

Trying to wind down. Wife and I went to see one of my favorite guitarists, Junior Brown. We got home around 2330, but here I am still awake at 0400. Fantastic show.

how does this do the job..??

We’re killing ‘em in Indiana now. Last month, I think was the third since restarting. How should we do it? I don’t know, but we’ve been instantaneously or near-instantaneously putting down pets as small as a few pounds at vet’s offices, and cattle up to a ton or so at slaughterhouses for...

Lead levels cause indoor range to close

Wow! This is the first I’ve heard of this. That range is just under five miles from me, and I’ve never been there. It’s looking like I won’t be going. A friend used to work at a competitor down the road from them. He’s told about changing the filters at that place, and that sounded pretty...

Wow, Coasties base security shooting skills suck

Plus, I heard some FBI agents were there and didn’t shoot at all. I don’t know this 100%, however.

Yes. That’s what those pics were. Had it a month or so.

Adding a revolver to the mix

The GP is sure a tank. And has an interchangeable front sight so you can put whatever you want in there. The L and N frame S&Ws aren’t exactly dainty, either.

Adding a revolver to the mix

Looks like this. But that’s a 10mm. Here’s a comparison to a K-frame S&W (3” RB 65): The Ruger is a little bigger but feels a lot bigger to me due to the contours being left blockier.

FN Ends the SCAR Line, Kinda

Something new is coming from FN, so there won’t be a gap in their line. But I like my SCAR 17. A lot. It’s Tuesday and I haven’t shot it since Saturday night (night shoot class) so I’m getting the itch. I’ll be at the range today doing some work, but I might take a break to scratch the...

Ruger Introduces the Marlin Trapper Model 1894 in 10mm Auto

I’m a 10mm fan, but I won’t be running out to buy one of these. If I run across a deal later I imagine I’d bite. (I guess that applies to most guns.) I have nothing against it, but I have many others I’d spend that amount of money on first. The advantage I might see over the usual suspect...
