    Ruger American Scout

The .308 is a great cartridge. Everything that needs to be done in North America can be done with the .308. Heck Teddy Roosevelt did everything in North America worth doing with a 30-06 with crap bullets. With modern powders and bullets the .308 is the logical choice for a one rifle man.

    Ruger American Scout

I used to have a Remington 600 in .308 that, like Cooper in the early days, I had modified along the Scout Guidelines. Sadly, I sold it. Even with the rather dated style wise vented rib, that was a handy rifle.

What have you bought firearms related in the last 48 hours?

As often as not when I am carrying a 1911 I am carrying a Sig in .357 Sig. Please don't tell the ghost of Jeff Cooper. I love this round and I can lay down accurate fire much faster than my beloved .357 Magnums.

I Live In Another America, and it's Good.

You know, when you travel around America you find large pockets of real/old America. The Liberals run the cities and the airwaves, so they make you think that they are in the majority. But they are not. America is full of great people. Ever watch "Swamp People"? They are living the sustainable...

    Ruger American Scout

I have always been drawn to this concept. The Steyr shoots great and fits me well...but it is so homely. I know, I know. I am shallow. The Ruger does not make Coopers weight, but hits the other boxes and I find it attractive. My hunting days are mostly behind me know, excepting birds of course...

    Dress Code

Dben is spot on. Looking presentable while blending in. And sandals are not appropriate away from the beach. If you can't run or get off the X quickly with your current footwear, call your cordwainer immediately! (OK, I threw that in just to impress Simon) Seriously, get some shoes on! Nobody...

    Dress Code

Also for those that wear jeans, I used to every day. But try cargo pants! They are WAY more comfortable than jeans, pockets are handy and perhaps best of all they are considered "dressy" compared to jeans. Along with a collared shirt, I get treated better at restaurants than a slob wearing ill...

Correct Shibadog! If you are wearing skinny jeans and can't pocket carry because your pants are too tight, you have more problems than this Forum can correct.

    Solutions for Farsightedness?

Reason for the forum! Help each other out with what works for us. I bought half a dozen pairs when I was at the Duluth Store in KC and gave some to my older shooting buddies. Worked great for all of us!

    Solutions for Farsightedness?

Duluth sells safety glasses with magnification at the top for painters always looking up. When you bear down to shoot, they work great to sharpen the focus of your front sight. Prevents you from pulling your head up. Lean forward to combat recoil and your chin locks on your arm for an old Weaver...

A clear and accurate depiction of an "old west" tactical reload...

Years ago Dean Grinnell wrote of a guy that carried a Ruger Single Six rimfire .22 that kept the magnum cylinder loaded in his shirt pocket for a "speed reload". Sure enough, the guy bent over, the cylinder fell out of his pocket and the resulting discharge of the .22 Magnum pierced his heart...

    Dress Code

Line cops know there are more good guys than bad guys, so if all the good guys had guns all the time...just saying. Look at it another way. You are WAY more likely to need a gun than win the lottery in your lifetime. And how many of you buy lottery tickets?

    Dress Code

I read repeatedly in the forums that people won't carry a proper handgun because it is inconvenient or uncomfortable. Then somebody else on the forums mentions pocket carry, and the response is "I wear jeans every day". Well, change your wardrobe! For Heaven's sake, buy some cargo pants or some...

    Route 66 Centennial

Diversions are ok. Can't listen to bad news all the time, you will turn into a bitter liberal. Having fun is the best part about being a conservative! When I was a young man a couple of years out of college, I ran a lot of the Mother Road in style on weekend trips just for fun. Good times.

    Lets see your Fighting Shotguns

Remington 1100's can be reliable, but you have to take care of them. From my Sporting Clays days I would see O rings in terrible shape. Change them out and keep it clean, it will run fine. I didn't shoot an 1100 but had a tell tale circle in my wallet...no, not from carrying a condom, from...

Loading the Delightful 28 gauge - 3/4 oz. Magic

A fine shotgun, side by side or under and over (as the British say) is a joy to behold and shoot. I will never own a sculpture or other fine art, with the exception of shotguns.

    Smaller Guns for Defense?

The larger Airweight J frame or beloved yet discontinued Colt Agent/Cobra are easier to draw and shoot than a little .25 acp. Sometimes a "vest pocket" .25 is all you can carry, but the Ruger LCP and the Kel Tec have made the baby guns in .25 obsolete. Still, they are so cute and precisely made...

Loading the Delightful 28 gauge - 3/4 oz. Magic

Hayes is spot on. The 28 patterns are real killers on birds. The 12 and 20 are the popularity kings, so I like many others use the 20 because of cost when the 28 would be a much better choice. Reloading the 28 is worth it. Dare I say it? If I could only have one shotgun, with 60 in the rearview...

    1980’s Metal bands

And now I know the Soundtracks they play in Hell. Get to Church boys, eternity is a L-O-N-G time to have to listen to this music.
