10mm for Self Defense: Is It Too Powerful?

All auto rimless cartridges headspace’s on the case mouth if you put a very heavy tapered crimp on the cartridge you have no headspace. The 40 S&W case is healed in place by the extractor kinda ancting like a rimmed cartridge and when it is fired the case expands and seals the chamber. Do I shot...

10mm for Self Defense: Is It Too Powerful?

I have always liked the 10mm but I have no use for the 45acp. When the FBI was looking at a cartridge to replace the 9mm they looked at the ballistics of the 41 magnum but in an automatic platform. The 45acp had a bad habit of ricocheting off of windshields ( slant of the windshield and bullet...

    I have a 1991 7" Longslide Javalina.

When I carry my 10mm I have Underwood Ammo 150gr xtp at 1500fps and that gives it 756 foot pounds of energy. Recoil is manageable and bullet weight IMO is the best for social work. Underwood offers the 135gr Nosler at 1700fps out of a 5” barrel. But this is a sporting bullet and doesn’t stand up...

    Why revolvers?

The auto pistols of the time were still very finicky. The 1911 magazines needed to be tuned to the pistol. The military 1911’s had very loose tolerances and that effected accuracy. The revolver was easier to teach someone how to use. Recoil of the 38spl was a lot less that the 45acp and people...

    Um, Not for Me, I Don’t Think…

I like force on force using airsoft guns if you can get people to join you. And also get them to wear a face mask and T shirt only and one pair of jeans. They usually show up in a hoodie and 3 pairs of pants.
