Depends entirely on the type of handgun.
I've been collecting S&W revolvers for about 50 years now. They're my favorite wheelguns.
1911s - Colt with Springfield a close second.
DA/SA semi-autos - Sig Sauer.
I don't do plastic.
That was the intent of the founders. The federal government was only to deal with the issues of the nation while the states pretty much took care of themselves. Sure ain't like that now.
I think it will depend entirely on the strength and duration of the event. A relatively short, weak EMP may do little or no damage. However a powerful, long duration event could fry everything. Most likely, if we get hit, it'll be somewhere in the middle.
Older cars aren't necessarily immune. A...
In today's world I think its prudent to keep extra food, water, medical supplies and yes, ammo on hand in the event of bad weather, extended power outages, civil unrest and such.
But a total EOTWAWKI event, we're all just screwed.
I come from a time before all this fancy stuff and vertical foregrips. I was taught the old 7 O'clock and still use it. Anything else just doesn't feel right after all these years. ;)
I have tried a couple of vertical foregrips and they just didn't work for me.
C-clamp- NOPE! Uncomfortable for...
Unfortunately most ammo makers have watered down the 38 Super until its just barely better than the 9mm.
If you want true 38 Super performance you have to either buy boutique ammo or load your own.
For my new Ruger carry gun, I've settled on the Cor-Bon 125gr JHP. Its advertised at 1325fps.
Some of you may recall that just recently I posted about how I wanted a 1911 LW Commander in 38 Super. Nobody is currently making them and used ones where few and way too expensive. I ended up converting a Ruger into what I wanted. I spent months on that project. Wanna guess what just fell into...
When small is called for, I like my Colt Mustang XSP. Mini-1911, 380 and disappears easily. ;)
However, when extreme discretion is required, I have carried my PSP-25 ( Baby Browning clone).
For those who keep cash around, do you keep small bills? 1s,5s and 10s? If things were to go sideways and you found somebody who will still take cash, but all you have is hundreds. Guess how much that loaf of bread or can of beans is gonna cost?
Well I grew up on both Country and Rock & Roll, so its a long list.
Johnny Cash
Merle Haggard
George and Tammy
Charlie Pride
Buddy Holly
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
Jimi Hendrix
Otis Redding
MoTown
And the list goes on and on.
You know. When music was actually good. :D
I'm a big fan of the Avenger style leather holsters. They pull the butt in close to the body and don't take up quite as much space on your belt. Just about everybody makes a version of it.
