    Holster for SA-35

I've been going through my box of 1911 holsters and came across this one. This is truly minimalist. I think I bought this in 1979. My boss (aka patrol Lt.) said he didn't like me carrying a 1911 tucked in my waist band without a holster so this was the answer.

Magazines, at what point, if any, are too many?

I don't really know how many 1911 and AR magazines I have. I have a bunch still in the package in a drawer. Any time I'm at Cabelas and they have magazines on sale hanging on an end cap I have to toss a few in the basket then in the drawer at home. For some reason I only have three mags for...

    Holster for SA-35

When I posed this question I did not realize how close the SA35 fit was to the 1911. I have a variety of holsters for 1911 including many of the ones y'all recommended so I have been giving them a try with the 35. I like the Avenger style for the range because it draws and holsters so dang...

    What’s your Favorite Reloading Press?

I have a Dillon Square Deal for 45 acp. I'll set it up for 9mm soon. I use a Rock Chucker for rifle. I have a Partner press strictly to de- prime brass.

.257 Roberts: Is It Time To Bury Ol’ Bob?

The 257 Roberts is an under appreciated cartridge. Most people persist in under loading the thing to their own detriment. Load it up to 62000 psi in your good bolt action rifle and you will get 3100 fps with a really good 110gr Accubond. Take that to the deer stand.

    Game cam pics

This one is a regular at the feeder in my back yard. I hope he survives the season, next year he could be something special.

Scope Magnification: What’s The Right Amount?

In the past a 3-9 or 2-7 was just the ticket for the open senderos in South Texas. My favorite 270 featherweight mounts a 2.5-8. I've always tried to minimize the weight on my hunting rifles but as my eyes get old I'm considering a 4.5-14 on the featherweight. I find the variance in eye...

Show off your Every Day Carry!

But it's just uncivilized to wear straw to church or the court house after labor day.

Show off your Every Day Carry!

Here's my everyday carry, it started out life as a Para GI LTC. Too much plastic on that gun and a lousy trigger ta boot. On the plus side the slide frame and barrel were dang decent. Now it has Harrison hammer, sear, disconnect, trigger, and u-notch rear sight. Wilson checkered main spring...

Show off your Every Day Carry!

Back in old days, read round hammers in the 70s, the detectives had to conceal their weapons. The heat and humidity of the Texas coast made wearing a suit or sport coat uncomfortable so they wore Cuban barber shirts to hide their model 60s and 19 snubbies. Very classy attire for sure.

Yeah, not me either, but I have been known to get a tad grumpy now and then these days.

    Holster for SA-35

Does anyone have any particular preference for an owb holster for the SA-35. I need a holster for everyday carry as well as one that is reinforced so it won't close up while holstering. Any thoughts?

    I blame y'all.

    They make kilts too.

Coolest gun moment in a movie

The scene in True Grit is great "fill your hands". I've been to the site where that seen was filmed, just below Owl Creek Pass in Colorado. Beautiful spot. But my favorite shoot out scene was from Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis. He loads up a bunch of magazines and busts in with a 1911...

    Show off your 1911

Here is the 1911 I carried on patrol for over 25 years. It's one of the first Rock River Arms 1911. The Shiney blue wore pretty bad so I had one of those ceramic bake on finishes put on. That finish has taken a beating too. The Carbon Creations grips have really held up well. Many rounds and...

    Welcome Message

Howdy y'all from the Gulf Coast of Texas. I'm a retired police officer with 34 years behind me. I've carried a 1911 for all but a few of those years. I'm looking forward to visiting with you folks.
