    Canik MC9L

I bought my 1st Canik about 6 months ago - a MC9 Prime, I was very impressed from the beginning, and the more I shoot it, I like it even more. I added a Taylor Freelance brass weighted Backstrap on mine and it just makes it fall into my hand perfectly.

Can we have a little fun WHAT Would you pick?

Ok - basic suburban/urban home defense for me - Hard to choose - but I would be ok going with any of the following below - Except the 16" AR (bottom); Also, as I'm not a shotgun guy, the Beretta A300 would be my last choice. *Ruger LC 10mm - 16" barrel. Hits hard. Low recoil. Glock magazines...

Stealth Arms Platypus vs Staccato P (Aluminum Frame)

Stealth Arms Platypus vs Staccato P - On the table/At the Range (I'm not an expert. Don't claim to be an expert. Just a guy who enjoys guns & shooting.) Both - SAO (Single Action only) Curved trigger Aluminum frame Grip safety Thumb safety Holosun 507C ACSS in green Threaded barrels Streamlight...

    Thoughts on 300 Black Out?

300blkout is expensive to shoot. I feel little difference in recoil between it and 556. For me, living in an urban/suburban area, I still like 300blkout - SBR 9.5" barrel. Right now, I do not have it set up to run suppressed, but I like supers coming out of it - max powder burn/velocity out of...

    Favorite Handgun Company?

Whaaaaaaaat? Potential responses - a) "That's like asking me which one is my favorite child" b) "Depends on which day you ask me" c) "Let me see what I took to the range last" d) "Based on current production, history or both" e) "Let me think about it, and I'll get back to you.....maybe" f) "If...

    Pistols, PDWs, and SMGs

Forgot to mention - I originally had the Choate folding stock on the AP5-P for that classic look/configuration. However, it was long and bulky. Switched of to a rail mounted folder (Cheap Amazon version for $80??) and love it on this firearm. Very sleek and serves the purpose of stabilization...

    Pistols, PDWs, and SMGs

I'm not too concerned with the protests occurring in the country over the past 10 years - 1 - the current round seems pretty peaceful (agree with them or not) and are realistically filled with boomers ( my age or older); 2 - I'm not planning to head toward ANY protest with the potential for...

    Gun Porn/Collection & Retirement

Actually - that was one thing I was thinking/planning for - shooting more 22LR. I've got a Sig P322, Taurus TX22 compact and a S&W model 63-5 that I think will get a lot more action in retirement.

    Gun Porn/Collection & Retirement

Yeah - I mostly shoot handguns (indoor range for proximity/convenience) . I don't really like shooting any of these indoors - and I am hitting an outdoor range once every 2-3 months. Hopefully this will change in retirement. Shotgun I've had just under a year (April 2025) - and I'm not a...

    Gun Porn/Collection & Retirement

After a 39 yr career in education (mostly Higher ed) I have decided to embrace retirement (Mainly because at 62 I can get SS, with a pension and go on my wife's medical insurance). In the past 3 years I have been both culling and expanding the collection to prep for this time. Weds. 4/1 is my...

    Anyone gone back to steel?

I am definitely moving more in the metal/aluminium hammer fired SAO direction in the past 3 years. My EDC is still a Sig P365XL - but these are the ones that get the most range time over the past year or so - (Platypus added Oct '25. P226 X Carry added a month or so ago. Stacatto P is aluminium...

    Opinions on the Sig P320

Late to the party - As the 1st Sig P320 issues were reported, I could see each being user error and I was skeptical. I owned 2 P320s - AXG Scorpion and Spectre X Carry. They were great looking and shooting guns. However, I liked my Walther PDPs better and I started moving toward metal framed...
