1911 defender mil-spec

Just got one of these. Not sure if I did it or it came that way, but the slide was boogered up behind the release. I filed it & the gun works great but looks like crap. Any idea where to get an SA OEM replacement slide?

What do you mean not sure if you did it. If you did work on the gun and its on warranty it might not be covered. I would call Springfield and they should be able to sell you a new slide.

What do you mean boogered up? Do you have pictures of it. Did it work okay before you filed it?

If a firearm or any product for that matter had a manufacturers defect, it should have been sent back or discussed with manufacturer before a fix

Its minor, but in my opinion, you are on your own. You filed on the part.
No way of knowing if anything was out of spec before or whether you caused it yourself.

Springfield doesn’t sell many gun parts, I don’t think they will see you a slide, next time contact the manufacturer first, you may have voided the warranty.

Thanks. I’ll just take it to my local gunsmith & get a recommendation. It’s not a huge investment, $499 on grabagun.

If it still works fine, its only cosmetic, and the investment was small use it as a starter for a completely custom build of things you msy want to try on a 1911.

looks fine to me. as long as the rounds come out the right end and land within the "vicinity of aim" you're good to go!

Mil Spec slides are not blued, there parkerized
