.40S&W shot-shells

I carry a .40 Glock 23 these days. I'm looking for snake🐍shot cartridges for my outdoor adventures.. CCI makes 'em, does anyone else? I'm particularly interested in something that will CYCLE the .40 S&W pistol. Is this possible? Suggestions would be appreciated. I do have .357 and .44mag revolvers but would like to go the .40 if possible. Not interested in getting a Taurus .45/.410 altho that would be optimal for my purpose...

Shotshells will rarely cycle an auto. About the only way I’ve seen it done is by putting an incredibly light recoil spring in, which will tend to cause issues with standard ammo.

Use a revolver.

Smith and Wesson Govenor rather than the Judge if you like. 410
 
Take your pick of .45 LC, .45 ACP, or .410 shotgun.

This. I tried .45 a couple years ago. Made my 1911 a single shot😏. Went back to a wheelgun

Snake shot in .40 S&W is hit-or-miss for cycling in semis. CC1's your best bet, but expect occasional FTEs. For reliability, stick with your .357/.44 mag revolvers - CCI shotshells work perfectly there. If you're set on using the Glock 23, test extensively at the range first. The Taurus Judge would be ideal, but I get wanting to use your carry gun. Let us know if you find a .40 load that runs consistently!
