5.7×28 vs 9mm

My decision was based on cost of ammo, very little ammo variety and as stated 5.56 is cheaper and tons of variety in ammo choice between 5.56 and .223. For me I'd rather have a .22 magnum in a handgun. I've had the .22 magnum, damn fine round if used within its parameters AND a ton cheaper.
In my eyes, the only thing the 5.7 had going was the P90 and the amount of rounds in the magazine onboard.
 
I have/use the Gen 1 version of this AR57 upper.

I modified a 30 rd. polymer AR15 mag to collect the fired 5.7 brass, that ejects out thru the Ar15 lower mag well.

Thank you for the guidance. You pretty much confirmed some of my thoughts and added a couple of considerations I hadn't pondered. I was dazzled by the capacity and sexy appearance of the pistol I was looking at and hadn't considered much more than that.

Yeah, I've long been curious about the 5.7x28. But I've recently added a couple of .357mag even after telling myself I did not want to stock another caliber. Silly me. Now I'm looking at 10mm. So the 5.7, as interesting as it is, will be on the back burner for a while longer. The .357 and 10mm ammo are both cheaper than 5.7 as well.

My sentiments exactly. I was shopping the 5.7 and then turned my sights to the .40. I was soooooo sure I was going to buy the .40 that I ordered 1,000 rounds of Federal 180 grain Hydra-Shok off of GB. Then I missed the Father's day sale for the pistol. Now I have 1,000 rounds sitting in the vault with no trigger. 🫤
 
Gotta admit, I’ve never seriously considered. I mean 5.7 from pistol is basically .22 mag from rifle. .22 mag is fine round but certainly on the light side for a defensive rounds. I really don’t see the need for it. Too many rounds with superior. Power at there.
