5 Unconventional Calibers For Concealed Carry

Funny, I own all of those (except for .357 Sig, but I had a couple for quite some time).

Carried a P64 in 9x18 for a while…carried .44spl in a S&W 629 several times. Carried a .357Sig in a USP Compact…

Haven’t carried .45 Colt or .41 Magnum (well, I’ve carried it hunting or camping in bear country…but not concealed).

I finally got a nice IWB holster for my Taurus 38/357 revolver in a cross draw configuration, the gun fits the holster good but lacks good retention. I’ve carried it a few times as a back up on my armed escort jobs.

I also carried a Makarov back when the earth was young. It was my first carry gun, which I chose because it cost $149 or something from Shotgun News. It was a functioning firearm. It never jammed on me, and I got pretty proficient with it. But I sold it in 1999 to partially fund the Sig I now carry. I wouldn't go back to it, even if ammo for it was easier to find, which I doubt it would be. I would just as soon break out my old Kel-Tek P-32, which hasn't left the safe for 15 years or so.

The .44 Special is the only one of these calibers in my collection (Charter Bulldog). I agree with the author's statements about the ballistics. What I disagree with is the author's statements that, "You can always find .44 Special." I need to know where he shops because I haven't seen .44 Special on store shelves in almost 2 years. I can find it online for $1-$1.25 per round + shipping, but that's usually the best I can do. It's a fun cartridge, but it isn't cheap.

I have carried a 45lc for EDC for 70yrs and is also great for home defense, no problem with ammo.

This post got me to sign. I hate bloggers. They're write like they're pretending to be having a conversation. So cringe. Anyway. I bought a 40 cal pistol, and it was the only thing on the shelf at time. Years later I started hating it, and recently I finally gave in, and looked into the .357 SIG. The fireball that comes out of the blast, is totally mutual. Some people love that. One thing the blogger totally missed on, is the cartridge's rifle round, necked down profile. Supposedly, it makes feeding %100.001 reliable. My .40 jams here and there, and for 150$ i have ordered a .357 sig barrel to give a try out. If it's more reliable then I'm going with it. Ironically the 357 SIG maintains the cool sounding elegance of the of .40 S&W.

We're past the point of wondering if certain pistol rounds are going away. They're not going away.

The questions:

who is the blogger?
It's many people on youtube, and in the google, who are ranting, and ranting and ranting.

What .40 do I have?
1.0v M&P .40 Full size
